Mason Athletes Headed to Next Level!


It was a special day on Wednesday, Feb. 12th at Mason High School.  A large group of senior Comet athletes shared their plans to play at the collegiate level.  The Mason Athletic Departments, annual winter signing recognition, is always an exciting and proud moment for athletes, parents, family, friends and staff who were there to witness the event.  Years of training and dedication has paid off for these college bound standouts who now have the opportunity to earn a college education, while participating in their sport at the collegiate level.  Mason will host another signing recognition on Wednesday, May 5th...details to come.

BOYS BASKETBALL


BOYS BASKETBALL EARNS WIN OVER BIG BLUE!




Mason defeated Hamilton 77-66 on Tuesday evening. The Comets built a halftime lead of 38-26. Landen Long poured in 22 points to lead all scorers. Noah Pedelty added 19. Tanner Knue dished 5 assists. 
The Comets (15-4) will close out their regular season schedule this Friday at Oak Hills. Both teams enter the contest with 11-4 records in the GMC.  The winner will claim an outright 2nd place finish in the league. 

Mason boys have earned the #4 seed in the upcoming Sectional Tournament. The Comets will play the winner of the Elder/Mt. Healthy contest at Fairfield on Tuesday, Feb. 27th, 6:00 PM.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

GIRLS BASKETBALL PREPARES FOR TOURNEY RUN...




Now the GMC CO-CHAMPS will get to work to make a deep run in the post season!

The Comet Girls Bball team (#3 seed) will play their first Sectional post season contest on Wednesday, Feb. 21st against the winner of Mt. Healthy or Milford. Tip off is slated for 7:30 pm at Lakota East.

State Qualifier!
BOYS SWIMMING/DIVING...
MATT WAGNER QUALIFIES FOR STATE DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS!


Mason competed at the Southwest District Diving Championships at Miami University on Tuesday. Matthew Wagner finished 5th overall qualifying him for the state diving championships in Canton on Feb. 23-24th. The top 5 divers from the District qualified for state.

Great job and congratulations Matt! Good luck at State!

The Mason Swim Teams now move on to the District Championships at Miami University this Saturday. The District Tournament will automatically qualify two (2) in each swimming event to the State Meet, with sixteen (16) at large qualifiers that will be selected on the basis of times recorded in the District Meet.

WRESTLING TEAM UPDATE...




Mason travels to Delaware Hayes for a Tri Dual meet Thursday night with Hayes HS, Teays Valley HS and Watkins Memorial HS.


The Sectional Championships will be held Friday/Saturday, Feb. 23-24 at Hamilton and begins the road to the individual state championships. Mason is the defending Sectional Champion. Qualifiers from Sectional to the District Tournament will be the top four (4) wrestlers in each weight class.

Next up is the Buckeye Championship held at Dublin Jerome HS on Sunday, Feb. 25th. 

Mason Competition Cheer has qualified for the State Championships to held March 4th at St. Johns Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
