Sydney Baker is an Army ROTC graduate and worked with Wilks as a Service and Leadership Coordinator. She participated in many projects with Wilks, including the development of the Leadership Certificate program. Her favorite part of working for Wilks was "working with the incredible people on her team." Sydney will be commissioning into the Army as an Aviation officer after graduation.

Tyler Milliren joined Wilks after participating in the Miami Bound program, U-Lead, as a first year student. During his time at with the Wilks Institute, Tyler worked with the Leadership Certificate Program, and organized broomball games for our office. His favorite part of working in Wilks was "having an impact on Miami's future leaders, and watching them move towards and into leadership positions around campus." He will be working with KPMG as an incoming audit associate after graduation.
Congrats Sarah!
Sarah became was a leader in the transition of the Alternative Break program to the Wilks Institute for Leadership and Service, creating community partnerships and training student leaders. She was also a strong member of the civic engagement team, helping to create digital content in a remote world. Sarah's favorite part of working at Wilks was "working with everyone in the office, everyone was so great!" After graduation Sarah is considering a fellowship with the Illinois State Legislature or Teach for America.

Jessica has been with Wilks since her sophmore year at Miami. She's the Student Body Vice President of the Associated Student Governent. Jessica started with a role supporting social media with Wilks and grew into a leadership role with the Miami Strengths Project. Her favorite part of working at Wilks was "the ability to learn more about myself and grow as a leader while helping other students develop their own leadership path!" After graduation, she will be working at a startup in Columbus called Lower.com

Carolyn came to the Wilks Institute after participating in the Leadership Certificate Program. As a Service and Leadership Coordinator, Carolyn has worked for the Miami Strengths Project, including organizing the annual Perlmutter Leadership Conference. Carolyn has served in leadership roles with AOPi.
Congrats Reena!
Reena has served as an Andrew Goodman Foundation "Vote Everywhere" Ambassador, working to work to register voters, bring down voting barriers, and tackle important social justice issues at Miami. Reena also led a project to develop a Student Activism Guide. Reena says her favorite part of working with Wilks was "the freedom I've been given to create different programs and initiatives within civic engagement!" After graduation she will be applying to grad school to continue her work with civic engagement but with a focus on environmental sustainability.
Congrats Katelyn!
Katelyn is both a Service and Leadership Coordinator with Wilks and President of the Zeta Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega. Her work included finding ways to engage with community remotely, and leading educational outreach focused on leading through community identified goals. Katelyn says her favorite part of working in Wilks has been "connecting with other students and Oxford community members and seeing the passion of everyone on the Wilks team! Katelyn is exploring jobs related to digital marketing and community outreach.
Week of Service
Volunteers spent each day last week tabling outside of Armstrong Student Center. Their Week of Service included informational material for local non-profits, and drives for materials supporting those organization. The Week of Service was able to collect over 100 items that went to non-profits including:

Collin's Law
Collin’s Law is an anti-hazing legislation currently going through the Ohio Statehouse. This week, the Wilks civic engagement team is collaborating with all 3 of Miami’s Greek Councils and the Associated Student Government to learn more about Collin’s Law and how we can advocate for it’s passage. Redhawks Count is dedicated to civic engagement and nonpartisan action on campus and is associated with the Wilks Leadership Institute and the Andrew Goodman Foundation Ambassadors. Redhawks Count provides opportunities to increase voter engagement, pushes for nonpartisan collaboration, and creates community projects that expand student’s understanding of their rights. We strive to unite partners in the Oxford and Miami community in order to work towards promoting civics on Miami’s campus.
