DAA Architect Alum Retires at 90!
Meet recently retired 90 year old, AIA-member Emeritus Addison H. Clipson, Jr.,founder and president of Addison Clipson Associated Architects, Inc. based out of Glendale, Ohio. Clipson is an award-winning architect specializing in historical preservation with an amazing career spanning over 60 years. We got a chance to interview Clipson through his granddaughter, Janine Crum. Clipson attended DAAP (when it was still called DAA) back in the 50's. He is pictured here with his son, Brian, who served as a draftsman and building inspector for the firm for over 2 decades.
As a fixture in the historic Glendale Village, Cincinnati, where his office was located, Clipson worked on the preservation and restoration of many of the iconic structures in the village, including the First Presbyterian Church, the police station, the Glendale Lyceum, the Iron Horse Inn, and the Glendale Heritage Museum. To learn more about his contributions to Glendale, visit these You Tube videos: Historic Preservation Site and Architectural Contributions to Glendale.
It is fascinating to hear his story of how he became an architect, and how much has changed over his long career. Click here to read the full interview.
Of the hundreds of projects that Clipson worked on throughout his long and prolific career, he is most proud of those pictured below. We here at SAID wish Addison a happy retirement!
