On this Memorial Day, Brown Dog Foundation wishes to recognize and remember all of the brave men, women and animals who did not return from protecting our country's freedom during times of War. Their sacrifice is recognized and never forgotten.

| A Father's Love...
And a Holiday Miracle for Brandi, the Chi-Pit
When the skies parted and delivered Brandi, a six-week-old Chi-Pit mix (okay, okay... stop laughing) into the family of James, his mom and her chihuahua named Curly-Fry, all was right with the world. Brandi quickly folded into the favorite daughter status within the family, but especially in her Papa's eyes.
Disaster struck days prior to Christmas. A frightened Brandi darted into the road after being startled by a blow-up holiday lawn ornament and was struck by a car. The happiness of the season turned to darkness. Papa James and his mom rushed Brandi to the hospital where they learned that miraculously, her organs remained intact and uninjured, but two of her legs were crushed and required significant reconstruction. A surgery cost they could not afford on their own. Thankfully, a Brown Dog Foundation VetBilling Repayment Grant was available for them!

We have resumed making grants thanks to your generosity!!!! During the month of May several of you began making donations which has enabled us to resume making grants. We appreciate YOU! Thank you.
During the month of May, we received $1.5 million in requested assistance. We were able to assist 2 families and currently have 2 applications in review. So far this year, we have provided Education Assistance to 171 families. We're thankful to help these families, but we continue to say "no" much more often than we say "yes."
Your gift will make a difference today!

Brown Dog attends Beverly Hills Bow-Wow Gala |
Lisa Vanderpump’s Dog Foundation Gala Puts Pups in the Spotlight
On Thursday, May 18, dog lovers, celebs and puppies galore descended upon The Maybourne Hotel in Beverly Hills to attend the 5th Annual Vanderpump Dog Foundation Gala. Brown Dog Foundation was honored to be part of the festivities thanks to our partner Jocelyn Mizrahi and her organization Dog Mom Lifestyles which sponsored a table at the event. Brown Dog Chairperson, Carol Smock, personally underwrote half of the table sponsorship expense and Brown Dog employee travel expenses to support the endeavor.
The Vanderpump Dog Foundation raises money to save, adopt and care for dogs from around the world. Much of their funding and energy are spent ending the barbarity and torture of dogs at the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China and the dog meat trade. Funds raised that night also benefit the Vanderpump Dog Foundation’s rescue Center and Nursery located in Los Angeles, which is dedicated to caring for dogs and finding them good homes.
Stars from the silver screen, television and music worlds showed up in droves to celebrate the efforts of the Foundation and its founder Lisa Vanderpump all while raising funds to save more dogs. The star-studded event included multiple actors from Vanderpump Rules’ such as Lala Kent, Tom Schwartz, and James Kennedy; The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Garcelle Beauvais; Trixie Mattel; Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn; Paula Abdul; Kristin Chenoweth; as well as Mario Lopez; Lance Bass and his husband, Michael Turchin.
Brown Dog Foundation was well-represented by Founder and Board Chair, Carol Smock (Carlsbad, CA), new Marketing and PR Director Ellen Nelson (Nashville, TN), Brown Dog Donors Janine Stoffels and Priscilla Zavala (Carlsabad, CA) who created Meeps’ Fund and Nia Murphy (Portland OR) who recently held a virtual gaming fundraiser for Brown Dog.

Celebrate a Life and Save Lives
A Memorial Fundraiser For our Founder’s Beloved Beignet
This past January, Brown Dog’s Founder lost her fourth pup, Beignet, to cancer. To celebrate Beignet, Carol created a fundraiser for her own birthday honoring her glorious dog and raising funds to help others across the nation keep their pets happy and healthy for as long as possible. The goal is to raise $5,000 by June 5.
Please consider donating to this important fundraiser and tribute, and remember, Brown Dog Foundation came to be because of Carol’s love for her first dog, Chocolate Chip, and that love has now saved more than 2000 pets across the United States. Just click here to continue to grow that life-saving love.
If you are unable to give through Facebook, you can always donate via Brown Dog's website and earmark the donation for Beignet's Fundraiser.
