CRANaward Winners

The CRANawards returned to the Corbett Tower at Music Hall for the 2022 awards program. A jury reviewed 34 submissions, selecting winners in eight categories. Thirteen firms from AIA Cincinnati and AIA Northern Kentucky submitted work, as did ten students from Miami University and the University of Cincinnati. All projects were shared on AIA Cincinnati’s social media for People’s Choice Award voting, earning over 800 combined votes.

Congratulations to the 2022 CRANaward Student Division Winners:

AIA Cincinnati launched the CRANawards in 2009 to celebrate outstanding projects by residential architects working in nine southwestern Ohio counties. This year, AIA Northern Kentucky was included in the program.

CRANaward winners are chosen by a distinguished jury of residential architects working outside of the region.

John Rogers, FAIA and Bruce Sekanick,FAIA of AIA Ohio stopped by to award SAID's AIAS leadership team of Jacob Kuhn and Ashley Miller, along with faculty advisor Melanie Swick, a chapter grant which will help fund SAID's AIAS chapter in planning events and programming. The AIA Ohio Foundation is devoted to the continuing development of academic excellence in Ohio’s five accredited schools of architecture, and SAID is grateful for their commitment to improve the experience of architectural education.

New Student Convocation Speakers Needed

The search is on for Student Speakers for New Student Convocation 2022! We are looking for student speakers for Convocation on Friday, August 19. Student speakers will be speaking to over 5,000 incoming students in a 3-minute, memorized speech. We’re searching for current students who can offer words of wisdom and share their compelling college experience story in a concise and thought provoking way. Some examples of previous topics are serving as a campus leader, overcoming mental health challenges, and coming to a new country as an international student.

2-3 student speakers will be selected through an application process, and ample training will be provided prior to the big day. Students must be available on Friday, August 19, 2022 to serve as a student speaker. In addition, they will need to meet with the Convocation Team several times prior to Convocation. More details are provided on the online application form.

The deadline to apply is June 13, 2022. Students will be notified no later than June 29 if they are selected.
