4th Graders Making a Difference!

As part of our IB program, each spring our JG 4th Graders learn first-hand how, "Communities are changed by the actions of individuals." They research non-profit organizations, select one, and implement an action plan to make a significant contribution to that organization.
This year we resumed the tradition where they share their Exhibition process in our school auditorium. Parents, community members, and fellow JG Hornets were able to experience presentations about the work 4th graders did to make a difference in our Nashville community.
Our 4th graders organized craft stands, lemonade stands, bake sales, community athletic events, donation drives, etc., and raised awareness for 15 different humanitarian organizations that help adults, children, and animals with issues such as poverty, physical disabilities, illness, emotional health, and homelessness.
Together the 4th grade class of 2022 collected 2 carloads of new and gently used supplies for new mothers, 2 carloads of supplies for artists, pet foods, pop tabs, and approximately $9,000 in monetary contributions for their various humanitarian organizations!
Way to go 4th Grade Class of 2022!

Please submit any reimbursement requests for the PTO by the end of May so that checks can be written during this fiscal year. We encourage you to submit all PTO expenses rather than covering the costs yourself as a donation because this helps the PTO better plan for the budget needs for the upcoming year's events and programs. The online form for check requests can be found HERE.
Three cheers for our wonderful Field Day chairs Rankin McGugin and Hayley Simmons for organizing the most fun day for our students and JG community! We also want to give a special shout out to our Field Day emcee Gena Moran for bringing such enthusiasm and energy to the kick-off festivities! From the parade to the popsicles and all the amazing games and activities in between, our students had serious fun in the sun. Thank you, thank you, for all your hard work!
