Congratulations and welcome to Stanford University—we’re excited for you to join us on campus soon!
Associated Students of Stanford University (ASSU) 
The Associated Students of Stanford University (ASSU) is your student government representing all Stanford students, including funding Stanford’s 700+ volunteer student organizations’ programming, and advocating for student interests. As a member of the ASSU, you have a right to engage with student government including lobbying for policy advocacy, requesting student group funding, or deciding to run for office yourself. Our branches:
  • Executive Branch: advocates on behalf of all Stanford students for University-wide policy changes and serves as a liaison between the ASSU and all other stakeholders.
  • Graduate Student Council and Undergraduate Senate: legislative bodies that advocate for their respective student populations and set club funding policies.
  • Constitutional Council: oversees the ASSU's constitutional compliance.
  • Elections Commission: oversees all Stanford student government election including elected offices, and annual grants.
  • Nominations Commission: appoints students to various university committees including the Board of Trustees, the Office of the President & Provost, Academic Council, and Student Affairs.
Stanford Student Enterprises (SSE)
Stanford Student Enterprises (SSE) is the financial branch of the ASSU and manager of businesses “for students, by students.” We educate and invest in our student employees by immersing them in real-world decision-making as they operate and manage each of the enterprises.   • Capital Group: offers a full range of banking services to all VSOs, ASSU, and SSE.
  • Cardinal Ventures: a 10-week startup accelerator focused on helping students develop their business ideas and source funding while taking no equity.
  • Cardinal Labs: a reduced priced tech solutions enterprise offering Stanford VSOs and students access to quality web solutions.
  • Stanford Consulting: connects students with the opportunity to solve real-world business problems for client companies.
  • Tournaments: our newest enterprise delivering high quality competition experiences starting with Stanford’s long standing Debate Invitational.
  • Tree Apparel: Stanford’s Student Store providing trendy new apparel, high quality accessories, and outstanding gifts including unique student designs offers a wealth of intellectual opportunities, both in and out of the classroom.
