Dear Class of 2027,

We hope you're ready to jump for joy after submitting your Approaching Stanford Forms! This week's newsletter provides some final reminders about the Forms, and introduces you to our beloved Stanford Pre-Orientation Programs, with registration deadlines coming up soon in June.
As a final reminder: your  Approaching Stanford Forms & Housing Application are due Wednesday, June 7, at 5:00 PM PDT. Don't wait until the last minute to submit, as the system will slow down if you're all logged in at the same time!
Additionally, if you're interested in taking a free online Stanford summer course to boost your math and/or writing skills, apply for SOAR by the June 12 deadline. Courses run virtually July 31 - September 1.

Approaching Stanford Forms

Due Wednesday, June 7 at 5:00 PM PDT

All incoming frosh are required to complete the Approaching Stanford Forms & Housing Application.
Give yourself a few hours, work on them in any order, just save as you go! Once the deadline passes, we will begin accessing your information.

Office Hours with Approaching Stanford Staff

Wednesday, June 7, 9AM and 1PM PT | Zoom Link
We're here to help! Stop by our Drop-In Office Hours with your questions and chat with staff. Or feel free to email, call, and post in Slack or in the Canvas Q&A Boards

System Time-Out Errors

The Forms system is sensitive and can time-out if you have been idle for a period of time. Be sure to save as you go, especially after resolving errors on a form or after you change your rankings for housing or COLLEGE preferences. We recommend writing long responses (Letter of Intro, Housing) in a separate doc and copying/pasting them into the Forms. If you receive an error message logging into the forms, try clearing your cache/cookies first before opening a new browser window to log in.

Preferred Name & Photo on SUID Card

Your preferred name and the photo you upload will be printed on your Stanford University ID (SUID) card. Be sure to update your preferred name by June 30. Log in to Axess and look for "Names" under the "My Information" tab. Please also review all of your Personal Information under this tab in Axess and make any additional updates, as needed.

Student Information Update

On the Forms, you are asked to complete the Student Information Update in Axess. Axess recently received a visual refresh, so the link to this item no longer appears. Since we have not received an update yet for when the Student Info Update "To-Do" item will be placed on your Axess accounts, you may check the box without completing this action item and submit your Forms. We will remind you later this summer when it becomes available.

Stanford Pre-Orientation Programs

Stanford offers the following Pre-Orientation Programs for new students to meet each other in small group settings just before New Student Orientation (NSO) begins. All programs are optional, except ISO which is required for international students. Registration forms and applications are now available and will close in June on the posted deadlines. You may apply to multiple programs, but can only attend one pre-orientation program.

On-Campus Programs

International Student Orientation (ISO): Overseen by the Bechtel International Center, ISO supports your transition to living in the U.S. through presentations, panel discussions, and social activities. All new international students who must attend the mandatory immigration session with Bechtel are required to attend ISO and cannot sign up for an additional pre-orientation program. U.S. citizens living abroad and permanent residents do not attend ISO, though you may request to attend if you have never previously lived in the U.S.

Students will develop a collaborative community of peers, engage with faculty, and learn about the resources and services available on campus.

Off-Campus Programs

Stanford Native Immersion Program (SNIP): Through the American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawai'ian Program/Native American Cultural Center (AIANNHP/NACC), SNIP is a six-day experience designed to welcome new students to The Farm. Participants are led by current students and staff who will direct them in activities, explore Native issues, and advise them on academic and student life.
