Another 'then and now' DGL story
She's on a mission to end period poverty
Privilege was only 10 years old when her mother died unexpectedly. With no female role model, she was dismayed when her menstrual cycle began and she did not have access to sanitary supplies. Anxious, embarrassed, and in need, Privilege resorted to what she had and used the stuffing from her teddy bear.
When she became ill from a severe UTI, she received medical attention along with a supply of hygiene products. "The UTI rescued me and changed my life; I knew then I wanted to do something to help other girls. In 2016, I started a sanitary pads campaign."
