State of the Society: 
SMPS-LA President-Elect Rayna Feliciano attended the "State of the Society" webinar and provided this overview:
In 2014, SMPS National developed the Society’s Strategic Plan that sets the direction and framework for SMPS and describes the timeless ideology which helps move the Society forward to serve its members, their firms, and the profession as a whole. Over the past year, SMPS National has been hard at work developing programs and educational resources to further the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan and assist members with building business for their professional services firms.
Event Recap: New Member Orientation Luncheon
Eighteen SMPS/Los Angeles members gathered at the City Club on April 6th to enjoy lunch and get better acquainted with the chapter and all it has to offer. Suria Lee, Chapter President, and Christine Timbre, Membership Committee Chair, detailed all that chapter and committee involvement can bring to members, along with promoting the latest events. These new faces will greatly enhance the Los Angeles Chapter!
Event Recap:  Marketing Bootcamp
On Wednesday, March 23rd, SMPS hosted Marketing Bootcamp at IBI Group in Los Angeles. The half-day program included speakers and mentors from across the AEC industry to help build marketing muscles. Attendees included marketers and engineers from the industry who were encouraged to participate in the discussion. Topics included Lead Generation, Seller/Doer Model, Do It Yourself PR, and InDesign Tips and Tricks.

Event Recap: Principals Breakfast A/E/C Women Leading the Way

On March 22nd, SMPS/LA hosted the A/E/C Women Leading the Way Principals Breakfast panel at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown. Moderated by Martha Ball, Principal and Higher Education Studio Leader of Harley Ellis Devereaux, the panel included Clare De Briere of The Ratkovich Company; Jessica Wethington-McLean, Office of Los Angeles City Council Member Jose Huizar, who serves as Executive Director for Bringing Back Broadway; Robin Hughes, President and Chief Executive Officer of Abode Communities, and Sonnet Hui, Executive Project Director for Hazens Group US.

Event Recap: Pacific Regional Conference
February 10-12, 2016, ten SMPS Pacific Regional Chapters joined forces to host the annual conference, comprised of three dynamic days of networking, learning, and developing relationships with industry partners. The 2016 Heat Wave Conference Co-Chairs were Tom Neary (Los Angeles Chapter) and Andrea Story, CPSM (Alaska Chapter).

Event Recap: SMPS Gives Back with LA Regional Food Bank
On Friday, January 22nd, SMPS/LA volunteered at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Volunteers were tasked with sorting, inspecting and repackaging donated food items from local food drives and supermarket chains. With seven volunteers and a span of merely three hours, 4,925 pounds of food were processed which equates to 4,087 meals provided to the local community. Thank you to volunteers from Pankow, EwingCole, Syska Hennessy, Nishkian Chamberlain, Beck Technology, and FLL Consulting.
Call for Nominations: 2016 - 2017 Board of Directors

Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2016-2017 term, which commences on September 1, 2016, and concludes on August 31, 2017. Currently, the President-Elect, Programs, Education, Communications, Secretary, and Treasurer positions are open for nominations. The Membership, Sponsorship, Special Events, and Professional Development positions will not be vacant until the 2017-2018 term. Members in good standing may be nominated for any of the elected positions that are currently available.
