Community Advisory for Students, Faculty, and Staff | 8.17.22

LMU continues to monitor the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and is working diligently to safeguard the safety and well-being of our community.

This and previous Community Advisories may be viewed en Español here. Please continue to check LMU.edu/Together (Accessible; En Español) for the latest information. The site includes LMU’s interactive COVID dashboard, a need-to-know A-Z index, and more.

Update: Masks Recommended, But Not Required on LMU Campuses

In response to L.A. County’s recent move into the medium tier of COVID-19 transmission and recent updates from the CDC, LMU will no longer require masks. The university continues to recommend masking for certain indoor settings*, welcomes community members who choose to mask, and asks everyone to respect each other’s preferences. These updates align the university’s approach with current guidance from local public health authorities. We offer free masks to students, staff, faculty, and visitors—learn more here.
* Please note that L.A. County Public Health orders and ordinances still require masks in specific indoors settings: Student Health Services, Student Psychological Services, and LMU shuttles. Other university departments or units are not authorized to set their own masking protocols.
In an effort to keep our LMU community safe and healthy, please continue to follow standard public health guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, including:
  • Wearing a surgical or medical grade mask remains strongly recommended in certain indoor settings.
  • Wash your hands frequently (with hand sanitizer, or soap and water for at least 20 seconds). If you have tested positive for COVID-19, notify the COVID Support
    Team here.
  • If you have been exposed to an individual who is positive for COVID-19, contact the COVID Support Team at covidsupportteam@lmu.edu or 310.568.6868, and find self-care instructions here.
  • If you feel sick, do not go to class or work, and please follow these instructions.
For more information, visit the LMU COVID Dashboard, which is updated nightly, and the
A-Z Index. Additional resources may be found at LA County Department of Public Health, the California Department of Public Health, or the Centers for Disease Control.
