And as always, we're sharing some of our favorite Blog Hop and Make It Monday highlights from the past month. So get comfy and take some time to enjoy yourself. The first Papertrey Ink News of 2017 has landed!

For the December Blog Hop Nichole shared this swoon-worthy gift wrapping photo from Oh Happy Day. The candy coated colors in this photo just beg to be used, don't you think? Dolores artfully blended a background that she layered with the Cover Plate: In The Woods Die. The colorful backdrop is a stunning complement to the Swan'sational swans on her beautiful birthday card. Merry created a cheerful Hanukkah card with the color scheme from the photo. She paired Menorah Medley with Keep It Simple: Hanukkah for a modern greeting sure to make someone smile. And Michelle pulled out her 2016 Anniversary Set: Painted Petals (only a little over a month left to snatch this one up!) to create a joyful bouquet. There's nothing like the perfect color scheme to make a stamp set truly shine. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work, ladies! And thank you all so much for playing along! We hope to see you participate again soon!

Despite the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, our designers have had some fabulous Make It Monday tutorials to share with you over the past several weeks. Betsy showed us how much of an impact a simple outline can have in her Embossed & Outlined Backgrounds video. And Ashley encouraged us to incorporate an extra special personalized touch with her Holiday Photo Cards tutorial. Anna and Rema played along with their challenges and shared their gorgeous projects with the rest of us. A great big hand for these ladies and everyone else that participated in the weekly challenges!

January brings with it the promise of a fresh start, a bright future, and a handful of wacky holidays to keep you entertained all month long. It also happens to be International Creativity Month, so it's the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself to create a card for one of these quirky celebrations!
Can you think of a holiday more befitting January than National Motivation & Inspiration Day? January 2nd we celebrate the things that spark, drive, and propel us toward our best selves. Do you know someone trying to get fit in the new year? Pair She Moves with Making Strides for a card that will encourage her to reach her goals. Or remind a friend that she's the best when she's true to herself with A Little Inspiration. New Every Morning gives biblical fortitude to those who might need spiritual inspiration while Daydreamer and Choose Joy promote sticking with your dreams and finding happiness in the everyday. How will you reach out to someone who needs support on National Motivation & Inspiration Day?
Our feathered friends have their moment in the spotlight when we celebrate National Bird Day on January 5th. Mark the occasion with cards featuring Polka Dot Parade #11 and Little Bitty Bird. Or look toward the warmer months with Spring Woods as the focal point of your Bird Day projects. What The Doodle: Feather and Feather Finery nod toward the occasion without hitting it right on the nose while Songbirds celebrates both birds and their lilting melodies. Don't miss the opportunity to send your bird watching friends an unexpected smile this National Bird Day.
Plants add fresh air to our homes, give drab rooms a pop of color, and symbolize growth and freshness so on January 10th we give them their due with Houseplant Appreciation Day. Know someone with a green thumb? Super Succulents is ideal for brightening up their day! The flowering pots in Garden Variety II are sure to remind your dear ones that the sun will shine again despite the dreary January weather. Or pull out Topiary Trio for creations will a bit of greenery with sophistication. Let's give houseplants their moment in the sun as we celebrate their day this year!
A hug from someone you love...is there anything better? Embrace National Hug Day on January 21st with cards for all of the special people in your life. Big Hugs is a stylish sentiment set tailor made for the occasion. Or pair Keep It Simple: Sending Hugs with your favorite floral for a project with clean and classic style. Phrase Play #6 opens up a whole world of layering and technique possibilities with its coordinating stamp set and die. And Graceful Greetings II lends elegance to any project. So go ahead...send a hug!
Whether your handwriting looks more like script or scrawl, National Handwriting Day is a silly observance on January 23rd. Create projects for the occasion with handwritten flair by incorporating a sentiment from Handwritten Notes. Or send a greeting to someone who appreciates swooping penmanship with the Signature Greetings and Signature Greetings II sets. If brushstrokes are more your speed try Good Times on for size. Or simply enjoy the holiday by getting a jump on your Valentines with XOXO. However you celebrate, make sure to write a nice message on the inside of your cards.
So there you have it! Make sure to send those cards and snap a photo before popping them in the box. Share your photos each weekend on social media using #saturdaysnailmail and you may see your photo featured in our feed!

Valentine's Day will be here before you know it and the Make It Market: Valentine Pin-Ups Mini Kit is perfect for making your special treats a joy to give and receive! Ashley dressed up one of the little critters in the set with a fabulously frilly doily and a die cut tag. A baker's twine bow adds a charming touch. Laurie used one of the little ladies and a Tag Sale #3 shape cut from vellum to add some pizzaz to her treat bag. And Betsy shows that this Pin-Ups kit can work for other celebrations too! She paired one of the little fellas with Heart-2-Heart #2 and In The Bag to transform her bag into a birthday treat. Already have the Valentine Pin-Ups kit but need more of the printed papers? Not to worry! The Valentine Pin-Ups Patterned Paper Collection is available separately to make things handy for you.
