Dear Logan Community,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am thrilled to share that Nicole Girvan will be our next Head of School. Nicole comes to us from Ravenscroft School, in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she has served as their Head of Lower School for the past five years.
A very talented educator and leader, Nicole has demonstrated many strengths and capabilities as an independent school administrator and is ready to step into this exciting new role. Additionally, her warmth, intelligence, humor, and her true desire to learn and support Logan impressed the Head of School Search Committee, the Board of Trustees, and our broader community. While we were lucky to have three excellent finalists, Nicole quickly rose to the top.
Nicole will begin her role as Head of School on July 1st, 2023. Until then, Shae Schneider will continue to be our interim Head of School. When Nicole joins our community, Shae will then pivot back to her beloved role and will serve as Dean of Students and Associate Head of School.
At this time, I also want to pause and extend heartfelt gratitude to our community. A Head of School transition can be challenging for schools, so it has been particularly heartwarming and inspiring to see our community rally together and show up in droves to support The Logan School this year. Thank you for reading through extra emails, for attending community sessions, for filling out surveys, and for continuing to entrust your children to our wonderful faculty and staff. I want to express extra gratitude to our Head of School Search Committee members and our Board of Trustees members for their collective time and devotion to Logan and, of course, to Heather Pool for her expert coordination of all of the HOS finalist visits. Last and certainly not least, thank you to Vanessa Pierce for her leadership of the entire Head of School Search process as Chair of the Search Committee.
Thank you in advance for your warm welcome to Nicole and her family when she joins us on July 1st, 2023. To get a better sense of her own excitement for this new role, please see her letter below.
With gratitude,
Sarah Bridich
