A Newsletter for Members of the Respite Care Providers’ Network
Call for Participants: Listening Session on Meaningful Consumer Engagement in Medical Respite
National Consumer Advisory Board at the 2016 National HCH Conference & Policy Symposium

Consumer engagement in governance is a vital piece of ensuring access and quality care for our patients. However, the short-term nature of respite programs can make engagement difficult to facilitate and maintain. This year the National Health Care for the Homeless Council is creating a brief on strategies for overcoming these challenges and attempting meaningful consumer leadership. We are looking forward to conducting a listening session to discuss challenges and successes with respite centers that have developed consumer engagement structures. If you are interested in participating in a listening session on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 2 p.m. ET, please contact Katherine Cavanaugh, our Consumer Advocate, at
Register Now for the 2018 Medical Respite Pre-Conference Institute at HCH2018 in Minneapolis, MN
Please join us on May 15, 2018, in Minneapolis, MN, for a one-day pre-conference institute, Medical Respite Care: Engaging Your Community. As the preeminent national voice on medical respite care, the Respite Care Providers' Network (RCPN) Steering Committee has organized a full-day institute to examine current and emerging issues in the field. Diverse speakers will facilitate this year's institute, which will include panels, presentations, and interactive discussions of interest to both clinicians and administrators. National experts will share best practices and innovative ideas on day-to-day management of a medical respite program, a payer's perspective on the value of medical respite, and ways to integrate harm reduction practices and philosophies into your program. Participants will be able to share information and network with providers from across the country. Registration for the pre-conference institute and the full 2018 National Health Care for the Homeless Conference & Policy Symposium is now open!
