Penn LDI
February 2, 2021
In November, Penn LDI and Penn Nursing convened experts and stakeholders in a virtual workshop to discuss expanding scope of practice for Pennsylvania nurses. Our new policy brief summarizes the recommendations that emerged.
Hans-Peter Kohler, Iliana Kohler, and colleagues at Penn’s Population Aging Research Center found that population blood pressure screening in Malawi led to a 22-percent point drop in the likelihood of being hypertensive four years later.
Research by Margo Brooks Carthon and Heather Brom finds that Black patients were up to 30% less likely to survive in-hospital cardiac arrests than white patients, and racial disparities worsened when nurses cared for greater numbers of patients.
Rebecca Stewart, Courtney Wolk, and David Mandell interviewed 25 executive directors of publicly-funded opioid treatment organizations in Philadelphia to understand barriers to medications for opioid use disorder.
Anne Teitelman has developed her third smartphone app related to human papillomavirus vaccine and cancer.
