Join Us For Yom HaShoah Remembrance

Cypress College's Yom HaShoah Holocaust memorial event is this Wednesday, April 26 at 7-8:30 p.m. at the Pond to pay respect with a ceremony that promotes acceptance and inclusion, diversity and justice, no matter one’s race, religion, color or creed.
Two Holocaust survivors will speak at the event, and a number of others will be in attendance. The event will also feature Cypress College Photography Professor Clifford Lester's moving images of survivors and original music and dance performances by Cypress College students and faculty.

Zenon Neumark
Zenon avoided the horrors of the death camps by escaping from a Nazi labor camp and living and working in Warsaw and Vienna as a fugitive under a false identity as a Catholic Pole.
He authored a book about his experience titled, "Hiding in the Open."
"Such a life was not easy," he said. "Each day as a fugitive presented the risk of being discovered and killed."
He credits his survival to some daring and luck, but mostly to help he received from many righteous people.
Gerda Seifer
Gerda was born in Przemysl, a town in southeastern Poland. She was the only child of Henryk and Edyta Krebs.
Out of about 40 relatives, she and an older cousin were the only survivors.
After the war, she went to England as a war orphan and joined some other relatives who had escaped from Munich.
She arrived in America in 1951 and has lived in Long Beach, CA since then.
