CONNECTING WHO WE ARE
TO WHAT WE DO
February 1, 2023
Thank you to our retiring vestry members, Scott Bradly, Kim Strickland, Andrew Smithen, and Jude Mason, who served as Sr. Warden in 2022. Welcome to our newly elected vestry members, Michelle Andrade, Don Paul Gross, David Logan, and Ryon Suiter. Thank you for serving the St. B’s family in this way. Please pray for the entire vestry this month as they interview the final three candidates in the rector search.
Fifth Sunday After the Epiphany
Holy Eucharist, 8:30 a.m. & 11 a.m.
This Sunday, join us for Holy Eucharist at either 8:30 or 11 a.m. Our guest preacher will be the Rev. Canon Anna Russell Friedman, Canon for Family Ministries, Christ Church Cathedral. After communion at each service, the prayer desk will be open in the alcove near the altar rail. The 8:30 service will be live-streamed and available on-demand later. For Families: The nursery will open at 8:15 a.m. for ages 0–3 years, and the 8:30 service will include a children's homily for 3 yrs–6th grade.
At 10 a.m. Christian formation is offered for all ages, including children and youth. There are two classes offered for adults:
Fundamentals of Faithful Finance – This class seeks to help you frame your financial life in light of your faith and the stewardship of God’s abundance. Over six weeks, we will cover budgeting, debt, retirement savings, insurance, paying for college, wealth, generosity and other topics of interest to the group. Led by Joshua Andrews in the gym classroom.
We Believe – I Believe: Thorny Theological Issues – This class will delve into hard, theological issues and offer a range of perspectives for you to consider, discuss, and pray on. The questions at hand include the nature of God, the saving power of Jesus, and the Trinity, not to tell you what is right or wrong but to help you ask better questions. Led by Rev. Serena in Wallace Hall.

THEOLOGY ON TAP — THURS., FEB. 9, 6:30 p.m.
Stop!… In the Name of Love with Morgan Wills
Theology on Tap returns Thursday, February 9 from 6:30–8:30 p.m with our own Morgan Wills discussing a theology of rest. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a widespread re-assessment of work in America, with many of us rethinking our approach to work and lifestyle choices. And yet we may wonder: how do we do so faithfully in the modern world? Is there a practical resource or biblical lens to guide us?
Come enjoy a drink and discussion around the idea of rest entitled Stop!… In the Name of Love: Receiving and Weaving the Gift of Sabbath into our Lives. An internal medicine physician and the CEO of Siloam Health, a faith-based nonprofit ministry to the medically underserved, Morgan Wills enjoys both work and naps—and found support for both while pursuing a Master's in Marketplace Theology from Regent College, Vancouver.
WOMEN'S GATHERING — TUES., FEB. 21, 6 P.M.
Please join the women of St. B’s for a casual social gathering in the parish hall on Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Bring an appetizer, dessert, or bottle of wine (or beverage of your choice) to share—Mardi Gras theme optional!
