August Meeting Highlights

  • Pam Jones, Associate Vice Chancellor for Health and Wellness joined us to discuss the recent updates to Vanderbilt's paid parental leave policy and reproductive resources. In addition, Pam shared details on what to expect with upcoming COVID guidelines, and insight into Monkeypox.

  • The MoveVU team shared information about alternative transportation options, a response to the increased parking fees, and introduction to their new Commute Concierge: Miriam Leibowitz. Miriam, previously with WeGo Transit, has valuable expertise and helps connect staff to transportation options.

  • Wrapping up our guest speaker slots were Schuyler Robinson from Revel Xp, sharing information about the tailgating partnership with Vanderbilt Athletics; and Monique Smaby of Annual Giving, who shared details on how staff can volunteer during Family and Reunion Weekends this fall!

  • The Rules and Admininstration Committee provided a first read of the "Formal Response Procedure Proposal". This proposal aims to establish a process and timeline for USAC Leadership and VU Administration to provide responses to USAC proposals. The proposal will move forward for a second read and final approval at our September meeting.

July Meeting Highlights

  • Amanda Harding, incoming USAC President 2022-2023, welcomed new and returning members to the first meeting of the new year. Elected officers for 2022-2023 include Adam McKeever-Burgett: Vice President/President Elect; LaDonna Smith as Treasurer; and Lynn Maddox as Secretary. We look forward to serving as your leadership team!

  • Chance Ryon and TaShunda Franklin from HR Employee Learning & Engagement kicked off our meeting by connecting the One Vanderbilt identity to USAC mission and goals. Members joined breakout rooms to discuss each of the core beliefs (Belonging, Self-Direction, Collaboration, and Growth).

  • Each of the six committees shared details about their charge and upcoming meeting dates. USAC members were sent a survey to share their preferences for committee interest. Committees will be finalized prior to the August meeting.

Support the Employee Hardship Fund 

Vanderbilt's Faculty and Staff Hardship Fund has provided assistance to qualifying faculty and staff who are experiencing a temporary hardship due to a significant life event.

How can you help?
  • Connect your Kroger card to the Vanderbilt Employee Assistance Program through the Kroger Community Rewards Program.
  • Make a donation via cash or check to VU Hardship Fund c/o Work/Life Connections-EAP, Vanderbilt University Medical Arts Building, Suite 010, Nashville, TN, 37212.

If you are experiencing a temporary hardship due to a significant life event, you may qualify for the employee hardship fund. Visit the Hardship Fund website for eligibility criteria.

Staff Volunteers Needed!

Reunion and Family Weekend are the some of the largest campus events each year and we need your help to make them a success. From welcome receptions to tailgate to class parties, we cannot pull off these weekends without the assistance of our wonderful staff volunteers.
Sign up by August 31st.
