Dear GNHA Members,
I want to thank everyone for attending the GNHA luncheon this week.  We had over 130 hospitality professionals attend the meeting to hear our three major speakers (Butch Spyridon, Charles Starks, and Pam Inman) – It was an awesome event.  I wanted to make sure that I sent you an update on a hotel tax matter and two very large projects in Nashville.  As I stated at the luncheon the Greater Nashville Hospitality Association (GNHA) Board met and thoroughly discussed the two projects that affect the hospitality industry – A new $275 million dollar MLS Pro Soccer Stadium at the Nashville Fairgrounds and a $5.2 billion dollar transit project that includes a light rail line from the airport to the Music City Center / Downtown.   The transit project includes a lodging tax, sales tax, business tax, and rental car tax.
Ultimately, after much discussion, the GNHA Board voted unanimously to support both projects as they are very important to continue Nashville’s growth, employee & visitor transportation, and the ability to fill the hotel supply of rooms coming to the market.   Below and attached is information about the two projects and also some pictures of the transit project announcement.
