Celebrating a return to orientation trips
Congratulations and thank you to all of the students, faculty, and staff who participated in fall orientation trips. Whether to 100 Elk with the Middle School or any of the diverse northern New Mexico locations to which Upper Schoolers traveled, these trips serve to build community and shared experience among our students and are an integral part of the Prep experience for all!
Highlight on Senior SIP/TAP
We are excited to highlight the achievements of different seniors as they work on fulfilling their SIP and TAP requirements throughout the year. Indie Desiderio-Sloane '23 spent the summer completing her Senior Internship Program hours at the Institute for Computing in Research, a consortium of researchers, students, and teachers working on the pedagogical aspects of using advanced computing methods for research and scholarship.
"This summer I interned at the Institute for Computing in Research. With my partner, Arnold Yang, and mentor, Dr. Grant David Meadors, I studied the effects of spurious solar wind on acceleration noise in LISA Pathfinder. (We found that spurious solar wind should have negligible effects.) During the internship, I met other amazing teens who love STEM just as much as I do. Additionally, I learned about gravitational waves, solar wind, and so many other computing topics. I improved my coding skills exponentially. I am continuing this research as an independent study this year."

VISIT PLAZA BLANCA IN THE LIBRARY
Plaza Blanca, near Abiquiu, may be temporarily closed to the public for hiking, but you can experience the unique rock formations any time by visiting the library. The impressive 60"x40" sumi ink painting, pictured above, was donated to the school by art teacher Matt Mullins and is currently hanging in the LIC. Stop by and check it out in person!
