IUP Values Me
Jasmine is a psychology major with a minor in criminology and is on track to graduate in December 2023. She is vice president of IUP’s chapter of the NAACP, where her duties include managing events and the Crimson Connect page and running select meetings. Jasmine is also vice president of the Black Student League and coordinates outreach efforts and student contacts. A member of the Pennsylvania National Guard since 2018, she is a supply specialist and the unit armorer. We thank you, Jasmine!
Cory is the director of IUP’s Military and Veterans Resource Center. In this role, he has helped hundreds of veterans and their family members obtain G.I. Bill and other education benefits to attend IUP, and he provides them with resources to achieve their academic goals. Each year, Cory hosts a Veterans Day celebration, which involves IUP and Indiana community members, colleagues, and alumni. He partners with the Center for Multicultural Student Leadership and Engagement and provides Lunch and Learn programs that have highlighted the achievements of minorities in the military, such as the Tuskegee Airmen. Cory oversees the IUP Veterans Assistance Fund and the MVRC Fund, which are used to help veterans who experience financial emergencies. We thank you, Cory!
A note about IUP Values Me: Each week, we highlight one student and one staff member to “shine a spotlight” on their leadership and involvement in campus programs and their great work assisting our campus community with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or civil rights awareness. If you have a suggestion for an IUP community member to feature in this section, please email social-equity@iup.edu.
