Civic Change Agent undergraduate badge

The civic change agent badge aims to inspire students to align the ideals of democracy and civic commitment with deep knowledge of context, history, and policy. In this new 12 credit program students will learn the values and practices required for active citizenship through formal curricula, project learning, and co-curricular activities.

The Newman Civic Fellow nominated

Campus Compact Logo
Christina Vann, a junior who is majoring in public and nonprofit administration, was named to the incoming class of Newman Civic Fellows, an initiative of Campus Compact.Vann was nominated for the fellowship by President Philomena V. Mantella. 
Campus Compact, a national coalition of colleges and universities committed to the public purposes of higher education, provides Newman fellows with resources and training to help them develop strategies for social change.
Christina will have a unique opportunity to participate in a 12 month fellowship with community-committed students from Campus Compact member institutions. Please consider civicly engaged students that you may know for nominations in 2023.

Upcoming Events

Deadline extended until April 7

The 2022 annual meeting scheduled for September 21-22, 2022, will be back in person and will explore the theme of “The Impact of Engaged Scholarship: People, Purpose, and Passion.” The 2022 ESC Conference will provide a platform for intentional conversations about the many ways that community engagement impacts communities and the academy. The conference will not only highlight the positive impacts of engaged work but also explore ideas around how to define and evaluate the success of this work and the resulting scholarship. Proposals will be considered on any topic clearly connected to the advancement of community engagement.
