Facebook Forsakes Friends and Family to Compete with TikTok
Facebook announced that it’s overhauling the design of its flagship social network by elevating content from creators over posts from friends and family in an effort to fend off intensifying competition for users’ attention from TikTok.
In a statement, Facebook said users’ default screen, known as Home, will display more entertaining posts from outside creators and will provide easy access to its short-form video service known as Reels as well its ephemeral video product known as Stories.
Facebook has been aggressively investing in its video products to compete for young users against ByteDance’s video-sharing app, TikTok, which has become the world’s fastest-growing social media platform through its personalized delivery of short, engaging videos.

Young Adults in U.S. are Much More Likely than 50 Years Ago to be Living in a Multigenerational Household
| |
As successive generations of young adults in the United States cope with rising student debt and housing costs, multigenerational living is increasingly providing a respite from the storm. A quarter of U.S. adults ages 25 to 34 resided in a multigenerational family household in 2021, up from 9% in 1971.
Multigenerational living – that is, living in a household that includes two or more adult generations, typically consisting of those ages 25 and older – has increased among all age groups over the past five decades. But the increase has been fastest among adults ages 25 to 34.

Pottery Barn Debuts 150 Pieces of Furniture for People with Disabilities

Af you’re living with a disability, small design choices can make a big difference to your quality of life. High bathroom consoles make it hard to wash your hands from a wheelchair; low sofas are hard to get out of when you have a knee condition.
Pottery Barn is launching a furniture collection designed to be accessible to the elderly, the injured, and those living with disabilities, making it one of the first large home brands to do so. In consultation with experts, the company’s designers adapted 150 best-selling styles—from dining tables to office desks—to accommodate a range of disabilities.

The F/A-18E/F is one of the six aircraft that fly during most of the Blue Angels demonstrations.

| DIVERSITY TIP OF THE MONTH
| |
Respect boundaries:
Don’t expect women to choose between their family and a job that requires long hours and/or business travel. It’s not an “either/or” – and it’s not your business. Many women successfully balance family, job and work travel. Rarely is a man asked whether a promotion or work will interfere with his family life. It’s not an employer’s job to determine what another person can handle regarding their work and home life.
