VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

Introducing our August Volunteer of the Month, Sonja! She has been a regular with VRA for many, many years. You will see her as a volunteer shift lead, helping in sessions, heading up the cleaning of the water tanks, working with the horses, working booths at events, helping every time there is a project (big or small)...the list goes on! She has been known to pick up back to back shifts just so we aren’t scrambling to fill in the gaps, which is always such a blessing. Some of the things that we commonly hear around the VRA barn are: “I just love working with Sonja”, “I learned so much when I worked with her”, and “I can’t believe how amazing she is with the kids”! If you have ever worked alongside Sonja in a session, you are easily amazed at how well she interacts with the participants to break them out of a shell and how great of a teacher she is for kids and adults alike, whether you’re a participant or a fellow volunteer! With all of her amazing input, ideas, and dedication, on top of everything else, we definitely have a rare gem in Sonja and are so, so lucky to have her!

Do you or someone you know like horses, supporting First Responders, Veterans, active duty Military, and special needs? Are you looking for different ways you can get involved and become part of the VRA family? Join us for Orientation on Sunday, August 7th at 12:00 PM or Wednesday, August 17th at 6:00 PM. Please mark your calendars for this horsemanship class. This class is mandatory for new volunteers. After taking this class you can signup for an Advanced Horsemanship Class.

Farm Maintenance

Do you have a green thumb? The farm needs to look beautiful! We need help landscaping, planting flowers, and weekly weed eating and mowing.
