‘Latinistas’ To Be World’s First All-Latina Fashion Doll Line
Independent toy brand Purpose Toys is launching the first Latine-dedicated toy line to its company.
The company’s Latine division will release “Latinistas,” a collection of Latina dolls “designed to reflect the beauty and diversity of the Latino community.”
Four dolls make up the first line of “Latinistas.” Together, they are known as Las Amigas. Their names are Lola, Liv, Julianna, and Dani. “Latinistas awaken toy aisles with a dose of cultural authenticity, in a historically culturally ambiguous toy market,” the press release reads.
The head of Purpose Toys LATIN is Jovanna Rosado, who has worked at Mattel and American Girl in the past.
“I am beyond honored to be part of this historic moment for our community,” Rosado said in a statement. “Our goal through Purpose Toys LATIN is to unite, empower and celebrate our community through play.

A Record Share of Americans is Living Alone

Nearly 30 percent of American households comprise a single person, a record high.
Scholars say living alone is not a trend so much as a transformation: Across much of the world, large numbers of people are living alone for the first time in recorded history.
“It’s just a stunning social change,” said Eric Klinenberg, a sociologist at New York University and author of the book “Going Solo.” “I came to see it as the biggest demographic change in the last century that we failed to recognize and take seriously.”

Hispanics Officially Make up the Biggest Share of Texas’ Population, New Census Numbers Show

The point at which Latinos would outnumber white residents to make up the biggest share of the Texas population has been on the state’s demographic horizon for years.
It seemed that long-awaited milestone was reached in 2021 when a closely watched data release last year was the first to reflect the culmination of decades of transformative growth.
But confirmation did not come until this week, when the U.S. Census Bureau updated its official population estimates. In new figures, the bureau confirmed Latinos have made up the largest share of the state’s population since at least July 2022. The new population figures show Hispanic Texans made up 40.2% of the state’s population last summer, barely edging out non-Hispanic white Texans, who made up 39.8%.
The updated estimates retroactively captured a landmark moment in Texas’ demographic evolution, but it’s not much of a turning point. The new figures showing Latinos outnumbering white Texans by about 129,000 cap off a population boom that has been culturally recasting the state for several decades.

As Twitter Continues to Implode, Advertisers Pin Their Hopes on Threads

Advertisers are eagerly watching how Meta’s new Threads messaging app develops over the next few months as they look for a new social channel to reach consumers while Twitter continues to struggle.
Instagram Threads debuted two weeks ago and has amassed more than 100 million sign-ups, which has caught the attention of numerous companies, several digital marketing agencies and industry experts told CNBC.
Natasha Blumenkron, vice president of paid social for marketing firm Tinuiti, said that Threads has become the topic du jour for her company’s clients, who are trying to figure out how the messaging app fits into their existing social media strategies.
Many businesses that have stopped advertising on Twitter over brand safety concerns, including the reported increase in racist and hateful speech on the platform under the ownership of Tesla chief Elon Musk, are excited about the possibility of advertising on Threads once that option becomes available, Blumenkron said.
