- Shout-out to Ms. Zappalla at J.B. Fisher Elementary School for being an amazing kindergarten teacher! Your students love you, and you are helping them shine! :)
- I would like to shout-out our school counselor, Dr. Zana Johnney. She organized and did a phenomenal job for Carver Career Day on Friday. There were more than 30 presenters. The students were so engaged with our presenters by asking a lot of questions. It was a learning experience for the entire school.
- Thank you, Zach Sneed, school counselor at Cardinal Elementary, for assisting with picture day. It was a fun environment and it went smoothly.
- I would like to shout-out the amazing Communities in Schools site coordinators at T.C. Boushall Middle School, Ms. Bono and Ms. Martin, for providing the funding to bring Regina Boone to our school! You guys are the absolute best!!!!!
- I want to shout-out Jennifer Hacker, Anna Moeser, Christina Schlegel, and Ally Hepner for being flexible and attending one of the bite-sized professional learning sessions last week. To ensure that upcoming or current topics are in line with the VASOLs, you ladies took time out of your busy schedule to devote 30 minutes to the sessions. Your passion and dedication to our Dragons is beyond words!
- I want to lift up Mrs. Freeze for completing her final caregiver/teacher conferences! What an accomplishment and role model she has been for all of us at Cary Elementary. She models what it looks like to have high expectations of all students! Thank you for all that you do for the staff, students, and families here!
- Ms. Robinson, PE teacher at John B. Cary, is the best teacher! We loved learning how to jump rope with her and we've had so much fun playing balloon tennis this week. We really love having fun with her and appreciate her kindness
- Ms. Singleton is a great communicator and always manages to make me feel comfortable and supported as an educator at J.B. Cary!
- Shout-out to Summer Chirdon, speech/language pathologist at Huguenot High School, for being such a great asset to our students. Summer’s pleasant demeanor yields positive results with the students that she provides speech services for. Huguenot is very fortunate to have her as a valuable member of our school team, and we look forward to her continued support.
- Today is World Behavior Analysis Day. We'd like to highlight our BCBAs today, Dr. Kira Austin, Daniel Irwin, and Craig Marrer, for the work they do. Not only are they analyzing behaviors, but they have also been very supportive with creating process for collecting data that inform many of our interventions at Amelia Street School.
- Shout-out to our Miles Jones administration team who quickly and efficiently help when issues arise in the school day. We appreciate all your hard work in ensuring our students and staff are well taken care of and loved!
- I'd like to thank Regina Boone, photojournalist with The Richmond Free Press, for coming to T.C. Boushall Middle School to talk about her experience in researching what happened to her grandfather. Your story is so inspiring – thank you for sharing it with our scholars! Thanks also to all of the 7th grade teachers who brought their classes – and especially to Mr. Roots, who saved the day!
- I'd like to shout-out Ms. Kelley, history teacher at T.C. Boushall Middle School, for collaborating with me! Thank you for saying yes!!
- I'd like to shout-out the care and safety associates at T.C. Boushall Middle School for keeping our community safe and building invaluable relationships with our scholars!
- I'd like to thank the Higher Achievement team at T.C. Boushall Middle School for being such good advocates for our scholars. And also for being good stewards of our space! We are lucky to have such amazing community partners!
- Kudos to the CIS team at T.C. Boushall Middle School, Ms. Martin and Ms. Bono! You guys are amazing and the turnout at our Eagle Welcome & Family Doughnut Drive was just the latest example of that fact! Thank you for all of your enthusiasm, love and support!
- I would like to send a shout-out to our amazing ELA teachers at Lucille Brown Middle School, Ms. Mason, Ms. Spruill, Ms. Godwin, Mr. Curtis and Ms. Redd! They created an activity that took the students by surprise first thing this morning. The St. Patrick's Day ELA Escape Room challenged each scholar to conquer each English task. These teachers continue to be creative with ELA activities to foster classroom community and develop strong literacy skills.

| 2023-24 Preschool & Kindergarten Enrollment – Preschool and kindergarten enrollment is now open! We're thrilled to offer preschool for eligible 3 and 4-year olds, and kindergarten for all 5-year-olds living in Richmond. Please note: if your student is currently enrolled at an RPS preschool, they will still need to register for kindergarten. For more information, please email enrollrps@rvaschools.net.

| RVA Men Teach Conference – The first-ever RVA Men Teach Conference will be held on Saturday, April 15 from 8:30 am to 3 pm at Huguenot HS. Conference breakout sessions, led by some of our dynamic male minority educators here in RPS, will showcase the ground breaking work being done in the city. There will also be panel discussions on 21st century education issues, an RPS hiring fair (with on-the-spot interviews), and free CPR certification classes for RPS teachers. Registration is free and open to all RPS teachers.
