BISD
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Sakai Families,

Well, it’s pretty cozy around Sakai today with many students (and staff) in pajamas. We also collected lots of warm clothes for Helpline House. Thank you for your kind donations! Please see below for the rest of this week's spirit days and kindness themes. Additionally, on Friday our PTO will be handing out hot cocoa at lunch recess as a school-wide prize from our COHO Run. To help cut down on waste, students are encouraged to bring in a coffee mug from home to use.

Last week I had the honor of presenting our School Improvement Plan to our School Board. You can see our plan on our school website here. As always, please reach out to me with any questions you may have.

Even though the first semester officially goes until the end of January, winter break always feels like the “halftime” of a school year. It’s been such a positive start to the year. We really appreciate all of your support and partnership. As we head into the break, I hope you all have a joyful one filled with family and friends.

Have a wonderful spirit week, Sakai.

Use the medium of your choice: colored pencils, pens, paint, or pastels.

********IMPORTANT********
Your illustration must be on an 8 ½” x 11” sheet of white paper, VERTICAL ORIENTATION.  Do NOT include any words, only artwork.

DUE DATE is January 6, 2022

Please drop off your entries in the office.  You can also scan your artwork and email it to Ms. White in the office (iwhite@bisd303.org). All entries will be displayed anonymously in the school and/or in your google classroom, for voting by students.  The top 25 most creative ways of showing Sakai spirit or heritage will be in the yearbook.  Your original artwork will be returned after voting.

 COVID TEST KIT DISTRIBUTION
The BISD COVID-19 team will be distributing free at-home test kits during school pick-up one day during the week of Dec 12-16. Free test kits for students can also be picked up at our District Testing Site from 9am-3pm on school days. The Testing Site will be closed during the Winter Break.
Take-home testing is a great strategy to mitigate transmission both at home and at school. We encourage your students to test around holiday gatherings and before returning to school.
