Do you host H-1B Scholars? OISS is taking e-form requests via UCSBGlobal
Dear UCSB Department Partners,

The Office of International Students & Scholars (OISS) has some exciting news for departments who bring in scholars on an H-1B visa category! Starting from today, February 17, 2021, all H-1B requests will be submitted through UCSBGlobal where requests will be routed via email to all stakeholders who need to sign off on the request! (We encourage you to visit our information page if you missed prior announcements regarding our brand new platform, which went live on February 8, 2021.)

Please review the easy steps below in order to submit an H-1B request:
1) Before submitting a request for the scholar, please make sure they have a UCSB NetID, the scholar needs this to login to UCSBGlobal using Single Sign On.

2) If the scholar is new to UCSB, you will login to UCSBGlobal and add them using the "Add New Person" e-form. (Shown below). Make sure to select "H-1B" as their requested immigration status.
If the scholar is currently employed by UCSB then you can skip to the next step.
3) You will next want to click on the H-1B Department Information Forms group and click on the H-1B Department Information e-form.  This form is our position data sheet that has been converted to an e-form!

4) You will then submit the form and it will send a "Second Approver" email to the scholar's supervisor to digitally verify the details entered in the H-1B Department information e-form.  This will also be automatically sent to Academic Personnel to review and confirm the appointment is in place before OISS can take action.

5) Once OISS receives the H-1B Department Information form, the scholar will receive an email invitation to use UCSBGlobal and enter their personal information in the H-1B Scholar Questionnaire.

6) The scholar will email all supplemental documents to longtermvisa@sa.ucsb.edu in a single file.

7) OISS will prepare the I-129 forms and send them to the department for required signatures.

We hope you will find this process easy and streamlined!  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!

Sincerely,
The Office of International Students & Scholars
