To my SWEAT peeps...


"As long as you have breath, you have something that someone needs..."

Well.....we are about 36 hours from Christmas morning and 7 days out from 2020!    Hot damn!!   What monumental milestones!!  I'm seriously pumped for both.   As I begin to start my planning now for 2020, here's my thoughts to share with you.....

10 Habits of All Successful People:
  1. They set goals.

  2. They take responsibility for their actions and their results.

  3. They have self discipline.

  4. They are obsessed with self development.

  5. They read. Alot!!

  6. They manage their time well.

  7. They take risks.

  8. They keep going when they suffer setbacks.

  9. They find a way to win, no matter the conditions or circumstances.

  10. They do what they love knowing that is the greatest reward. 

I'm just gonna say here......"I'm killing it!!'     ARE YOU?

Let's move on to family news......

It is with so many emotions that I write you to let you know that Laura Arja, the behind the scenes face of SWEAT, was presented with an new job opportunity that would bring her back to her ad agency days.  When she started to tell me, the first thing that came out of my mouth was "shut the fuck up."  I cried. She cried.  But after hearing about her opportunity, I understand that she cannot pass this up.  As we were talking, she used the metaphor from last weeks newsletter about the cocoon and butterfly..."The comfort zone is nice but not much grows there.  The beauty may be in the butterfly but the transformation happens in the cocoon.  It's true.  The caterpillar has to be willing to take a risk in order to become something more. It sometimes  feels like a struggle but ends in freedom, empowerment, and a new zest in your life."  This is her taking a risk and moving out of her comfort zone.  She's been with me for 12 years.  We've had our highs.  We've had our lows.  But no matter what, she's been SWEAT's biggest cheerleader and had a hand in where we are today. For that I am thankful.  I know there are many people who would like to wish her well, so I thought a happy hour would be a nice way to send her off.  Mark your calendars for Thursday, January 9.  Location and time TBD.
 
Now that that's out there, let's move on to a little gym talk......

SWEAT News...
The start of packing!!   Everything on their lists were bought.   $450 in food for each child.  Extra gifts. Extra goodies.  Nails.  Hair.  Cologne.  We also bought yearbooks for these three who would not have gotten one this year.  We also bought the EWHS hoodies of which are not available anymore because of the incredible year the Eagles had.  Their Christmas morning is going to be unfuckingbelievable because of all your love and kindness.  Thank you so so much!!
 
Just a friendly reminder that we are having a revised class schedule this week because of the holiday.  

  • Tuesday 12/24:
    Christmas Eve Craze: 8:30 - 9:30 am

  • Wednesday 12/25:
    Closed for Christmas
     
  • Thursday 12/26:
    Gettin' New Year's Ready: 8:30 - 9:30 am


  • Friday 12/27:
    Schedule as usual


  • Saturday 12/28:
    Schedule as usual


  • Sunday 12/29:
    Sinner SPIN: 9:00 - 10:00 am 

Starting January, there will be a minor $5 increase in the Unlimited Class Card price.  We provide you a full meal deal where you're treated like family, and not just a paying customer.  As always, please feel comfortable contacting me with any questions or concerns you might have.  My door is always open.  

Speaking about classes, there will obviously need to be a few changes made.  I'm looking at changing the format on Tuesday mornings to mirror the Thursday morning format,  a combined hour long cardio strength class from 5:30 - 6:30 am.  Wednesday 8:30 am class will need a refresh as well.  If there is something you'd like to see, now's your time to chime in and share your thoughts!

In the Kitchen...Winter Bourbon Smash

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup ice (plus more for serving)

  • Tbsp preserves or jam of choice (we went with organic raspberry)

  • Tbsp bourbon

  • Tbsp triple sec

  • 2-3 Tbsp orange juice

  • Orange segments

  • A splash of club soda brightens it up

DIRECTIONS:
  • Add ice, preserves, bourbon, triple sec and orange juice to a shaker and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.

  • Pour into serving glass with a few ice cubes and top with a splash of club soda. Garnish with orange slices and enjoy.

I love you all.  You're treated like family because you are family.  Don't allow life to dictate your next 48 hours.  You be in charge of what you want in or out.  Life isn't going to crumble if the quiche gets burned.  The sun will rise.  Breathe.  Let go.  Be okay with life on this day, at this moment, chaotic or calm.  Doesn't matter.  You have breath.  You have this life.  This one.  Be thankful that you do.  And let the small things go.
