September Meeting Highlights

  • Eric Kopstain, Vice Chancellor for Administration provided members with an overview of Vanderbilt's FutureVU initiatives. Using a principle driven approach and an understanding that Vanderbilt is a community of neighborhoods, campus has a number of capital projects that have recently been completed, are under construction, or in development. 

  • We welcomed back Pam Jones, Associate Vice Chancellor for Health and Wellness and Stacey Bonner, Wellbeing Manager to share exciting news regarding changes to EAP and well-being services beginning in January 2023. More details can be found in the MyVU article

  • Krystal Clark, Director, Employee Learning & Organizational Effectiveness and Krista Vaught, Assistant Director, Employee Learning and Engagement shared upcoming professional development workshops and learning opportunities.   
    Fall 2022 ELE Offerings

  • The Rules and Administration Committee provided a second read of the "Formal Response Procedure Proposal". This proposal aims to establish a process and timeline for USAC Leadership and VU Administration to provide responses to USAC proposals. The proposal was approved by USAC members and will now be formally added to the bylaws.

Support the Employee Hardship Fund 

Vanderbilt's Faculty and Staff Hardship Fund has provided assistance to qualifying faculty and staff who are experiencing a temporary hardship due to a significant life event.

How can you help?
  • Connect your Kroger card to the Vanderbilt Employee Assistance Program through the Kroger Community Rewards Program.
  • Make a donation via cash or check to VU Hardship Fund c/o Work/Life Connections-EAP, Vanderbilt University Medical Arts Building, Suite 010, Nashville, TN, 37212.

If you are experiencing a temporary hardship due to a significant life event, you may qualify for the employee hardship fund. Visit the Hardship Fund website for eligibility criteria.

All benefits-eligible employees should complete Open Enrollment for calendar year 2023 benefits coverage.

Flulapalooza is Back!

From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., all faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars and students are encouraged to attend the event at the area between Light Hall and the VA Hospital to receive their annual flu vaccination. This is a one-day event filled with photo booths, mascots and more.
Parking will be available in the 25th Avenue Garage, in either the 24th Avenue or 25th Avenue entrances. Bring your Commodore Card and wear short sleeves.


The HR Employee Learning and Engagement Team is excited to announce they are hosting the 8th Annual TEDxVanderbiltUniversity event. This event will be held in-person, at the Martha Rivers Ingram Center for the Performing Arts, on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

Applications for speakers will remain open until midnight October 12, 2022. Eligible applicants include Vanderbilt University students, staff, faculty, postdocs, alumni, and VUMC employees.
