Join the Global Friendship Thanksgiving Dinner!
Returning after a two year hiatus, the Global Friendship Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on the evening of Thursday, November 17, and YOU are invited!
We hope to gather around 150 international students and 150 community members to enjoy a traditional American holiday of gratitude and celebration. This event provides an opportunity to experience U.S. cultural traditions and engage in meaningful connection with local community members and Miami faculty and staff.
In addition to holiday activities, the menu includes classic Thanksgiving foods:
- roasted turkey with gravy
- cranberry sauce
- sage stuffing
- mashed potatoes
- sweet potato casserole
- green bean casserole
- pumpkin pie, apple pie
- and more!
Cost to attend: $7 per person for 1-2 ticket(s); $6 per person for 3 or more tickets; children under 10 years old are free. Purchase tickets through the link below.

4:00pm - 5:00pm on Monday, October 31 (Halloween), stop by the International Student Center (MacMillan 017) to learn about this classic U.S. holiday and try a variety of teas and treats from around the world.

Student Leadership Recruitment Fair
Interested in becoming an International Peer Orientation Leader (iPOL) or learning about other student leader positions? Come check out the Student Leadership Fair and connect with a variety of offices on Tuesday, November 1, 6:00-8:00 pm in the Armstrong Student Center - Fritz Pavilion (3rd floor).

Questions about your health insurance?

3:00- 4:00 pm on Wednesday, November 2, drop in at the International Student Center (MacMillan 017) to meet with an Aetna Insurance representative for specific questions about your health insurance situation or general inquiries about healthcare in the U.S.

Musical Meditation at the InterFaith Center
On November 4 at 6:00pm join the Bhakti Yoga Club for rich discussion, musical meditation and delicious vegetarian food. Please register to attend so that enough food can be prepared.

Diwali Celebration
On November 5 from 7:30-9:30pm in the Armstrong Wilks Theater, the Indian Students Association will host their annual Diwali Show.

Thanksgiving Break Reminders
From November 23 to November 27, there will be no classes and most university services will be closed or have shorter hours. Check the specific Miami facilities and services websites for schedule details. Please note the following:

Residence halls will close at 12pm on Wednesday, November 23 and will re-open at 9am on Sunday, November 27. Many students choose to leave campus during Thanksgiving Break, but students may still request to stay on-campus through their Online Housing Account. Please see the Campus Services website for more details and cost of University Break Housing.
- If you plan on traveling outside of Oxford, Hamilton, or Middletown during Thanksgiving
Break, arrange accordingly for your residence hall or off-campus residence (turn off electronics, secure doors and windows, arrange pet care, etc.).

November 7 is the Withdrawal Deadline!
|
|
|
If you do not believe you can continue your coursework, you may apply for a total withdrawal from the semester. Be mindful of university deadlines for withdrawal as well as refund policies. The deadline to academically withdraw from all classes for Fall 2022 is Monday, November 7 at 5:00pm.
Instructions for withdrawing:

2) Submit all required forms:

If you are planning to complete your program next semester, make sure to apply to graduate before November 1.

ISSS wants to make sure we have a record of every international student's preferred/chosen name. So, please take a few moments to update your name of use in InterLink. (Reminder that InterLink is the system that ISSS uses to manage international students’ information and documents and is the online platform for international students to submit requests to ISSS.)

Share a story from your culture! International students are invited to read an age-appropriate story at at Mini University, the childcare center located on Western Campus on Monday, November 14 from 10-11am. If you are interested in reading a story from your home country to the kids, reach out to Karla at guinigkm@MiamiOH.edu.
