USPTO to Expedite Examination of Certain Patent Applications with "Cancer Moonshot" Pilot Program
|
To further accelerate innovation in the health and medical fields, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has published a Federal Register Notice announcing a new program: The Cancer Moonshot Expedited Examination Pilot Program. Beginning Feb. 1, 2023, the new program expedites examination for a broad scope of technologies to prevent cancer and cancer mortality. Patent applications pertaining to the qualifying technologies will be advanced out of turn for examination and will be reviewed earlier (accorded special status). The program is scheduled to run until either Jan. 31, 2025, or the date by which the USPTO accepts a total of 1,000 grantable petitions (whichever is earlier). READ MORE

| UMSL Global International Fellowship, Summer 2023

Amount: up to $5,000
DEADLINE: Friday, Feb. 10, 2023
UMSL Global is excited to announce the relaunch of the International Fellowship Program in support of UMSL faculty international research efforts, which is a central mission of UMSL Global. The Summer 2023 International Fellowship program is designed to strengthen UMSL’s internationalization efforts by supporting international summer travel for conferences, research, and creative endeavors. The program aims to benefit all faculty who are traveling to engage in or present research/creative outputs that are international in scope and who may need to supplement their funding. The UMSL Research Award competition, designed to strengthen faculty research and creative activities, is now open. UMSL Research Awards support faculty whose competitive position for external funding will be improved by such assistance or to help faculty maintain an active research program if external funding is difficult to obtain. | SBIR/STTR Proposal Preparation Workshop
|
Wednesday, Jan. 18 - Thursday, Jan. 19 | 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
BioGenerator and BBCetc bring this free workshop to cover all aspects of writing an SBIR/STTR proposal focused on life science technologies. After an introduction of the BioGenerator program, this day and a half training will begin by reviewing the SBIR/STTR program basics including what they fund, which federal agencies participate, how the money can be used and the differences between the SBIR and STTR programs. This free Zoom webinar, offered by the Missouri Small Business Development Center - St. Louis (University of Missouri Extension), is designed to introduce technology startups to the basics of market research including topics such as identifying initial steps, understanding the market and how to begin to conduct customer research to determine product market fit. The session also includes an introduction to primary (customer) and secondary (market) research, market segmentation, and how to get started as a tech startup with limited resources.
