Homelessness response update
On Friday, April 26, the City, non-profit operator Live Love Outreach and the many previously unsheltered individuals who have called the Hope Village Safe Stay Community their temporary home, celebrated the community’s second anniversary. Hope Village, 4915 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., opened in April 2022 as Vancouver’s second of four temporary communities serving nearby unsheltered residents. From 2022 to 2023 Hope Village served 86 unsheltered community members and graduated 36 into stable housing.
Ask a question, report concerns
As the weather warms, the impacts of unsheltered homelessness become more visible. Our Homeless Assistance and Resources Team (HART) serves as the community's contact for questions and concerns related to homelessness. In addition to providing outreach, assessments and referrals to unhoused neighbors five days a week, you’ll see HART completing regular encampment clean ups in areas where sanitation issues pose public health risks. Report a concern on MyVancouver.

| Bridge shelter
While Safe Stays and Safe Park are working – graduating 108 people into stable housing last year and doubling capacity with the opening of two new communities in late 2023 – why then are we still seeing people on the streets?
The simple answer is there are not enough beds to support the more than 500 Vancouverites who remain unhoused. To bridge this gap, we continue to lay the groundwork for a future bridge shelter. A bridge shelter would provide up to 150 beds and 24/7 on-site support, including services for those needing mental health support and/or addiction treatment.
