The 2021 Student Research and Creative Activity Fall Poster Forum will be hosted in person on Friday, November 5 in the University Union.  

The annual Fall Forum gives Sacramento State undergraduates, graduates, and alumni the opportunity to present their research and creative projects to the campus community in poster format. At the Fall Poster Forum, students gain presentation experience and receive feedback on their work and presentation styles. This event is not a competition and posters presented at this event will not be judged. 

All registered undergraduate and graduate Sacramento State students are eligible to participate. Alumni who received their degrees in the previous spring or summer are also eligible to participate. 

At the Student Research Center, our primary mission is to strengthen and enhance research, scholarly, and creative influence and productivity at Sacramento State. To that end, we find there is no better way than to highlight the success of our students who have been actively engaged in these research and creative projects. This semester, we had the opportunity to interview student researchers whose works were awarded top prizes at the 2021 Spring Symposium and selected to compete at the annual CSU Student Research Competition. 

The third episode in the series features a conversation with Hennie Weiss and Celia Snow, a team of two student researchers in the Division of Social Work in the College of Health & Human Services at Sacramento State. Their research project entitled "Child Welfare and Commercially Sexually Exploited Children: Assessing for Exploitation Based on Risk Factors Using the SWAI (Social Worker Assessment Index)" won first place at the 2021 Student Research & Creative Activity Spring Symposium and second place at the 35th CSU Student Research Competition.

The Carlsen Center is partnering with a number of Colleges on-campus to run their own idea and innovation pitch competitions. This activity is a creative outlet for students to explore their ideas and begin their entrepreneurial pursuits.

Hosted in the fall of each academic year, the College Pitch Competition allows students to share product ideas, innovative services, or a startup plan at any stage in the entrepreneurial process.

All participants will receive a certificate of participation and the top award winners can win cash prizes ranging from $300 to $1,000! Finalists will be selected on October 27. 

The CSU Council on Ocean Affairs, Science and Technology (COAST) is the umbrella organization for marine, coastal, and coastal watershed-related activities within the CSU. COAST promotes research and education to advance our knowledge of marine and coastal resources and the processes that affect them and disseminates scientific information to stakeholders for the development of responsible policy statewide.

The COAST Undergraduate Student Research Support Program provides funding to every campus in the CSU to support undergraduate student participation in faculty-mentored marine, coastal and coastal watershed research. The goal of this program is to engage students interested in pursuing marine-related careers and provide them with the opportunity to obtain the skills necessary to join a highly skilled, technologically advanced workforce while promoting and supporting CSU faculty research.
