From the Chancellor 150 Masthead
September 6, 2022

Dear TCU Community,
This is the beginning of an extraordinary time in the history of Texas Christian University. Excitement is building for our 150th academic year, and we are ready to show the world what we can do when we Lead On — together. I am already feeling the renewed energy on campus and am pleased to share some updates with you.

Lead On: Celebrating 150 Years of TCU
Our official 150th celebration kicks off on campus the week of Jan. 23, 2023 with a Texas-sized celebration for all Horned Frogs. It will be an opportunity to gather on campus with family, friends and colleagues to interact with our storied history and share personal memories of TCU. We’ll celebrate our mission and vision with pride and anticipation for our next 150 years. Mark your calendars now for Jan. 23, 2023, and watch for more information coming this fall.

The anniversary theme, “Lead On: Celebrating 150 Years of TCU,” connects our Lead On rallying cry with our Sesquicentennial celebration. Several initiatives across campus will inspire us to Lead On here, now and into the future as we connect our students, faculty, staff, alumni, families and the Fort Worth community with TCU’s mission and vision. Learn more about our plans and discover more stories about Horned Frogs on TCU’s 150th website.

Our Sesquicentennial plans also will celebrate Lead On: A Campaign for TCU, our most ambitious fundraising effort to date. We are closing in on our goal of raising $1 billion to strengthen our people and our programs. This transformative campaign enables us to fulfill our commitment to our students – and our mission within the global community. We plan to finish strong and celebrate the success of this historic community effort in late 2023.

‘Lead On. Boldly.’ is TCU’s Moment to Shine
This fall, you won’t be able to miss key elements of our vibrant national campaign. On banners, digital ads and other stunning creative elements, our celebrated Lead On rallying cry is bolder and brighter than ever before with an energized purple gradient. We plan to connect and celebrate the TCU community by spotlighting alumni accomplishments through innovative murals across the country in key markets. We will even ring the New York Stock Exchange Bell this fall to signal the start of our Sesquicentennial season. TCU’s Vision: A World-Class, Values-Centered University
A key outcome during our Sesquicentennial is to examine and invigorate TCU’s values. This includes exploring our values in depth, as well as initiatives related to our scheduled SACSCOC (The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) accreditation process that takes place next year. Beginning this week, TCU students, faculty and staff will participate in a campus-wide exercise to prepare us for the next 150 years. It is important that all Horned Frogs take part in this effort. Please look for the first exercise landing in your inbox this week, as well as additional information on SACSCOC later this month.

Colleagues across campus are working on special programs and events that will bring Horned Frogs together. I am grateful to all who are participating in and leading these efforts that celebrate our past and our present, even as we plan for the next 150 years of educating leaders to be a force for the greater good. Thank you – it is an honor to be on this journey with you.

Lead On, Horned Frogs!
