“How to Help Your Student Get Ahead This Summer” – Webinar hosted with Owen Graduate School of Management

It’s hard to believe, but summer break is right around the corner. Now is a great time to help your student make the most out of their time by engaging with them and determining which career-oriented activities would be best to pursue. Join Cherrie Wilkerson, assistant dean for young professional programs at Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt undergraduate students and current students from our specialized master’s programs for a panel discussion. You will learn about many career-building opportunities available for students that will add to their college experience and prepare them for the future. It’s never too early or too late to start planning for fun and fruitful summer experiences!

Fall and summer 2023 study abroad

The Global Education Office is pleased to announce that study abroad applications are now open for fall 2023 study abroad programs. Check out our page for reasons why you should study abroad in the fall. 
Applications for fall 2023summer 2023, and Maymester 2023 programs are open on our website. For a complete list of all programs offered through the Global Education Office, visit the website. Students can earn credit toward their major/minor while abroad, and most need- and merit-based financial aid applies to a semester or academic year abroad.
GEO staff are available to advise students virtually or in person, and students are strongly encouraged to attend a weekly OverVU session before meeting with an adviser. OverVU sessions take place in the Student Life Center Suite 109 every Monday at 4 p.m. CST.

Save the date for Family Weekend 2023  

We are excited to announce that Family Weekend 2023 will be Oct. 13–15! During this weekend, you’ll have a variety of events to attend as well as opportunities to get to know the Vanderbilt community better and meet other Vandy families. 
We strongly encourage you to reserve your accommodations now, as hotels and rentals can fill up. For additional resources as you plan your trip, please visit the Visiting Nashville page for hotel discounts and more. Many sessions and events occur during the day on Friday. Please keep that in mind when planning for your trip as you may want to consider getting into town on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 12.

MLK Day Commemorative Event

Emmy Award–winning journalist and author Byron Pitts, co-host of ABC’s Nightline, will be the keynote speaker for Vanderbilt University’s 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Day commemorative event. This year’s topic is “It Starts with Me: Cultivating a Beloved Community Mindset to Transform Unjust Systems.”

Play it smart this summer at Vanderbilt Programs for Talented Youth

Vanderbilt Programs for Talented Youth (PTY) is now accepting K-12 applications for summer 2023 programs.   
Statements of interest for summer employment positions (residential and non-residential) for college students are also being accepted. 
If you have an academically advanced learner in your life, Vanderbilt Programs for Talented Youth has opportunities for them. On-campus programs include the following: 
PTY is also accepting applications for the popular virtual program, Mentor Immersion. This program is for students in rising 11th and 12th grades. 
PTY programs are intended to meet the needs of advanced students with accelerated learning opportunities. Instructors are talented scholars, graduate students and professionals from Vanderbilt and the wider Nashville community.
