Everybody Reads 2023 closes on March 16 with a lecture at the Keller Auditorium featuring Ruth Ozeki, author of A Tale for the Time Being. Everybody Reads 2023, a community reading project of Multnomah County Library, is made possible by gifts to The Library Foundation with author appearance made possible by Literary Arts.
Calling all local writers! Send your self-published e-book to be considered for the library’s collection. Submissions will be accepted in English, Spanish and Vietnamese. The Library Writers Project offers a path for local authors to have their e-book added to the library collection, and that next author could be you! One title may also be selected for print publication via the library’s partnership with Ooligan Press. The submission period is open April 1 through April 30, 2023.
Albina Library will close on March 18, and North Portland Library will follow, closing on April 5. Both locations will keep their historic buildings and be expanded to include outdoor spaces, updated technology, diverse collections and more.
The 2023 Women’s History Month theme is “Celebrate Women Who Tell Our Stories,” highlighting women storytellers, whether it is through print, radio, TV, podcasts or other avenues.
