Harmony University Highlights

As we close out our first Virtual Harmony University this weekend, we can't help but look back at the incredible performances that happen at our finale show every year. Join us!

Thank you to all of our students, faculty, volunteers, and staff who made this year's Virtual HU such a success... we couldn't have done it without you!

From the BHS Blog:
Intro to Managing Quartet Finances

Managing quartet finances can be difficult. Now is a great time to align your financial goals, open a bank account, and prepare your taxes, so when the time comes, you’re ready to perform again.
Having your finances ready to go when we do come back is going to allow your quartet to hit the ground running and start singing. When I was learning about it all I felt like we were in a secret club or something. Now, I love it when I can get some quartet friends to talk about their taxes or bank account setups. I feel like a financial ninja!

Please note - it’s likely that every quartet has done something a little differently when it comes to their finances. My quartet, GQ, started out with VERY LITTLE FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE. In this blog post, I plan to share how GQ handles our finances and some lessons we learned along the way. And trust me... we learned a lot!

Membership Moment:

Why I joined BHS

BHS has been a fixture in my life since 2007, so deciding to become a member was a really natural progression for me. I have been singing barbershop regularly since 2011, and preserving the style of music that has brought so much joy into my life is important!
Joining BHS is another way for me to personally ensure that barbershop harmony stays relevant. My favorite thing about my membership is being part of something that is bigger than myself. The relationships that I have formed through BHS and the Mid-Atlantic District have literally changed my life - and adding my BHS membership to that only enriches those relationships!

Lifetime Membership

If barbershop is your life, you should consider becoming a Lifetime Member. As the name implies, you are all in -- a member for the rest of your days. Make a one-time payment of dues equal to twenty-five times the current Regular dues rate, and your Society dues are paid forever. If dues rates change through the years, no worries -- you’re all paid up.

You might consider Lifetime Membership if:
  • You expect to be a member for another ten years or more
  • You want a permanent connection to the Barbershop Harmony Society
  • You want to commemorate a special barbershop occasion -- this is a truly special holiday, birthday, or anniversary gift

For a limited time only!

Contact with code BHSLIFE to secure a Lifetime Membership for only twenty times the regular rate -- a savings of over $700!

Chapter Shows During COVID-19:

Remaining in Copyright Compliance

In an effort to prevent spreading the COVID-19 virus, many of our chapters have canceled, rescheduled, or modified their show events. As ASCAP and BMI/SESAC reports are often submitted and paid well in advance of a show date, there are a few steps to ensure a chapter's public performance records remain in copyright compliance.
