BISD
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Sakai Families,

I hope you had a restful and joy-filled break. My family and I got to do a little skiing and watched a lot of World Cup games.

Today in COHO, students will dive into what it means to be a good listener. Listening actively is such an important skill to grow in our kids. Please ask them how today's lesson went and model active listening. The Family Dare this week helps us practice this skill and continue with our theme of gratitude this month. Titled, “Take 5”, this dare challenges us to take 5 minutes in the morning to share (and have everyone in the family share) 1 thing they are grateful for today. This allows everyone to start their days with a mind and heart filled with gratefulness. As Scarlett Lewis, Founder of the Choose Love Movement, says, “It’s hard to have a grateful thought and a negative thought at the same time!”

I am sure the next few weeks will feel very busy at Sakai as we finish out the calendar year. This time of year always seems to fly by at school. As snow threatens our forecast, a quick reminder that we are going outside for recess every day. Students should have appropriate attire for the weather. Also, we would love to get our Game Room up and running but need volunteers to do so. If you are interested in spending an hour with some amazing kids playing board games, please sign up below.

Now is also a good time to remind your child to check our Lost and Found. We have A LOT of found clothes and water bottles.

Have a wonderful week, Sakai!
