SCPA will be hosting a free, virtual panel for collegiate journalists on Nov. 18 from 2-3 p.m. featuring South Carolina journalism professionals to give students an insight to how fun journalism is! Panelists include:

• Avery Wilks, investigative reporter for The Post and Courier
• Cam Adams, sports reporter for the Index-Journal
• Jeffrey Collins, reporter for Associated Press
• Joshua Boucher, photojournalist for The State

More panelists will be added soon. RSVP if you'd like to attend.

Every Vote Matters. Every Vote Counts. Don't forget that your news organization plays an important role in our democracy. South Carolina's General Election early voting period will run from Oct. 24 through Nov. 5. Here are some resources you can use to help you cover the election:

What made you decide to start working for your college newspaper?

I think journalism is a noble profession and I got the opportunity to work for our culture and diversity paper, so I took it. 

What do you like best about your paper?

I love the unique mission of the RMR. As Winthrop’s culture and diversity publication, we are committed to covering topics that platform minority issues and communities. 

What do you like best about your campus?

The active community of driven and involved students that care about the future of the university. 

What's your favorite thing you've written about so far?

I covered the return of one of Winthrop’s oldest organizations, the Association of Ebonites. It has been great to platform their mission - preserving the rich Black history of Winthrop’s campus - and to attend their events.
