As always... name that quartet.

As always... name that quartet!

Celebrate National Barbershop Quartet Day with Barbershop Live @ Home

No promises of cake, but there will plenty of singing to celebrate the Society's founding on April 11, 1938 with a virtual chapter meeting that puts the spotlight on quartets.
A top-flight team of veteran quartetters will be leading the fun. And did we mention a featured performance by Double Date
Brush up on some favorite tags, sing along on some old Beatles tunes, check your barbershop  history knowledge, laugh with The Newfangled Four, and much more. See the full lineup  and register herePlus... some classic quartet performances and a drop-in by O.C. Cash himself.

Customer Service is catching up!

In any normal time, our Customer Service team at Harmony Hall might handle 300-350 service tickets per week — a little higher seasonally around conventions, or holiday shopping, or particularly heavy renewal dates. The first quarter of 2021 has been unlike any in recent memory, with thousands of requests being processed each month. See what we're doing to get caught up.
Tips to faster service
  • Email is faster than phone calls. We can sort and assign tickets faster when they come via email.
  • Clear subject lines help. “Member #876746 - please renew” is easier to handle than “help.”
We’re working hard to catch up. We appreciate the many courteous calls and emails asking for assistance. We acknowledge and respectfully ask your forbearance when you are frustrated.

Energize your brain and body for better singing

This week, we shine the light on "100 Days of Vocal Exercises for Embodied, Expressive Singing," a free YouTube series from BHS member Donya Metzger, who serves on our Harmony University faculty. "I am very fond of video #1 as a very good place to start, and beyond that it’s rather a choose your own adventure," she notes. Looks like a years' worth of instruction!

Arr. Tom Gentry

Nothing beats a Hoagy Carmichael classic, now available as a digital download. Tom Gentry states, "I pictured Chorus 2 sung straight, though I neglected to communicate this to Marquis (1995 champs), who did it with a swing.” Try it both ways to see which your group prefers! We've got learning tracks, too.
