Dear Wilkes Families,
I was excited to see daffodil and tulip stems starting to poke through in my yard, which means spring is just around the corner! It will be a fun week with All You Need is Love Day tomorrow and then Mid-Winter Break will be quickly upon us.
BISD is administering the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) annual survey to all parents & guardians, district staff, and students in grades 4-12. The online survey can be completed in about 10 minutes. The survey results will provide important feedback specific to our District Improvement Plan's outlined goals and inform our schools' future work. 4th-grade students will take the survey in class this week.
The information gathered in the survey is specific to your students' experience school as a way to gather holistic student data about our school improvement plan efforts. Individual student data is not collected or shared. More information about the Center for Educational Effectiveness can be found here.
When we return to school on February 27th, we will be celebrating Wilkes Reading Week and Read Across America. Ms. Hauge has lots of activities to celebrate the joy of reading! Back by popular demand is Bring A Character to Life Day!
Warmly,
Whitney

On Tuesday, February 14 also known as Valentine's day, Wilkes will participate inour 1st annual ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE DAY!
There will be lots of opportunities during the day for students to choose to encourage compassion for others, remember those who love us, grow in love for oneself, and celebrate LOVE’s byproducts! The goal is to not only add an extra element of fun and school unity to the day, but to also expand the scope of Valentine's Day to Social Emotional Health. Teachers can opt to participate in activies designed by our school counselor, Katie Brase.
Remember to dress in pink, red, or white.
