Untitled Poem by Leslie Rosario-Olivo '18

if you listen closely,

there are two voices speaking.

one with a slight delay,

a higher pitch,

it is slightly sweeter and rounder,

lacks the rigged edges it needs

to deflect daggers

and one with a slight rush,

a lower pitch, a false pitch,

slightly bitter and jagged,

with serrated boundaries,

every crevice kept carefully sharpened,

threatening to stab anything close by

and they compete for space in ears,

an unjust competition since

the birth of language

The grand opening of the new Pomfret School Gallery was this past Friday. This new larger space is located above The Stomping Ground in downtown Putnam. The opening included a mural by current students and an exhibit by Rebecca Pempek ’16. If you are in the neighborhood, check out the new space!

Closing Week of Fall Term

The final week of classes for the fall term - November 13 through 17 -  follows a modified class schedule, and offers extended classes organized by class block and hosted in our classrooms. These expanded class meetings are "classes with assessments" and represent critically important opportunities to conclude the fall term.

Students will not be able to reschedule these classes and the School cannot accommodate early departures. The fall term concludes at noon on Friday, November 17. Please plan your travel accordingly.

Last week we misidentified the Family Weekend Harvest dinner performance. In reality, this performance was an original collaboration between Pomfret’s singers, actors, dancers and writers, based on music and text from the award winning musical, Spring Awakening. It was not a preview of the fall play. Our apologies for the error.
