March Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Kim B. Brannagan
Dr. Kim B. Brannagan is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing, which has offered online programs at Loyola since 2004. "I joined the Loyola faculty in 2007, bringing limited experience teaching online nursing courses. What drew me to accept the position with Loyola’s School of Nursing was its forward-thinking online presence, clear commitment to its mission and vision, and unyielding desire to provide a quality learning experience for nurses. While the Health Care Systems Management (now Healthcare Systems Administration & Leadership) program maintained an on-ground cohort, I experienced first-hand the possibilities of making strong connections with and between students from across the globe in an online environment as well. One of the most enjoyable parts of my role is learning about the similarities and differences among healthcare organizations across the country and in some international locations. I am always so amazed at the great work that our students are doing not only in their organizations but also in their communities. The learning is so rich for nursing leaders who are on the front-line handling very challenging leadership and healthcare issues and for those who see this as their future. Graduation activities are also an enjoyable experience. Watching students who have communicated in an online only format or by phone who meet for the first time is beyond words. I am grateful for the opportunity to meet and learn from our amazing students!"
Each issue we will feature an online student or faculty/staff member who embodies the Ignatian ideals of faith, truth, justice, and service in our online community. If you'd like to nominate someone, please contact ssconlinega@loyno.edu to share who and why you think deserves to be in the spotlight.
