    TRUE MAROONS
The DCHS community came together on campus to celebrate All Saints and All Souls days with a prayer service at the Maroon Memorial. Fr. Reed Flood '13 read the names of the deceased aloud, including 123 alumni from the old Dowling, SJA and DCHS.
Thanks to John Sears ‘00 of WHO-13 Des Moines who recently visited our Journalism I class taught by Jennifer Umstead '89. He spoke to the students about his journey to becoming a sports anchor and reporter.
Click here to listen to a special Veterans Day edition of "Making it Personal with Bishop Joensen" featuring Fr. Zach Kautzky '02. Fr. Kautzky serves as a cadet chaplain with the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado and was previously chaplain at DCHS.
Episode two of Stories From Buffalo Road featuring alumnus Howard Kerr '53 is streaming now on Spotify and YouTube! Kerr was a Military Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, served in Vietnam and as a line officer in the Navy, was on the Executive Staff of the Chief of Naval Operations and the Naval Aide to Vice President’s Spiro Agnew and Gerald Ford, and served in the White House under President Gerald Ford. Read more about his distinguished career here.
Thanks to Father Kautzky, Howard Kerr and all who have served and continue to serve. We are grateful for your service.
BOOK OF GRATITUDE
Our tradition of recognizing those who have supported Dowling Catholic continues with our Book of Gratitude. We appreciate the tremendous contributions of our faculty, staff, families and local business partners, as well as the 850+ alumni donors who support DCHS. We recognize that the majority contribute far more than financial resources. You give of your time and talent - and for that we are most grateful.
50 YEARS TOGETHER ON BUFFALO ROAD
This year marks the 50th anniversary of St. Joseph Academy coming together with the "old" Dowling to form what today is DCHS. As we celebrate this milestone, we hope you enjoy this look back in history to Dedication Day in 1972.
Dedication Day took place on Oct. 29, 1972. The first ever Iowa high school football playoff was all the talk. The Dowling Pep Club made more than 300 pins for students to wear at the semifinal game at Sioux City East and the band rallied the crowd as the Maroons won 24-7. They lost the first state championship game to Cedar Rapids Jefferson 6-0 but were nonetheless recognized at a pep rally the following day in the Dowling gym. Bishop Dingman was among the fans who turned out to salute the team.
