   HOLIDAY CHEER!
UNT wishes you happy holidays! Check out this year’s holiday video to uncover the essence of cheer. May the beauty of the season warm your spirit as you spread that Mean Green holiday cheer wherever you can. Also, UNT will be closed beginning at noon Friday, Dec. 23, through Friday, Dec. 30, for Winter Break. Here are a few things to be aware of:
  • DCTA buses are running on a reduced schedule this week. Use the Transit app to see revised bus arrival times and plan accordingly. Keep an eye on @UNTTransit on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook for up-to-date transportation info.
  • If you have checked out a laptop from Willis Library, it must be returned by 6:55 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16.
  • Dining Flex and Swipes expire Friday, Dec. 16, so be sure to use them up by then so you don’t lose the money.
  • If you live in a residence hall, make sure to unplug unneeded items, take home anything you need during the next month and lock your door when you leave.
  • Winter Break housing is available to current fall semester residents. If you plan to stay on campus during the break, make sure to log into your eHousing portal to sign up for break housing. The deadline is at 5 p.m. today, Dec. 14. Also check out the break housing rates.
  • During Winter Break, all dining halls will be closed.
  • Campus will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
  • Spring semester classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 17.
This will be the last UNT Weekly of the year!

   CONGRATS, GRADS
We're celebrating commencement all weekend long, from the first ceremony at 8 a.m. Friday through the ninth ceremony, which begins at 4 p.m. Sunday. The College of Music ceremony will take place in the Murchison Performing Arts Center, and all others will be in the UNT Coliseum, which is enforcing a clear bag policy. See the full schedule with links to the livestreams (a link to the virtual commencement experience will be added Friday morning), and note that traffic will be heavy, especially on the west side of campus. Congratulations to our graduates — we’re proud of all you’ve accomplished!

   FRISCO BOWL AND FAN FEST
Check your account at unttix.com to purchase a discounted student ticket for the Frisco Bowl at Toyota Stadium, where the Mean Green will face Boise State at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. The game will be broadcast on ESPN. A limited number of tickets also can still be purchased through the North Texas Athletics Ticket Office. Note that Toyota Stadium is a cashless venue, so parking on gameday is $20 per car with credit or debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Don’t forget there’s a clear bag policy at the stadium. And check out the Mean Green Fan Fest activities Friday and Saturday. Join the fun, support our student-athletes and be on the lookout for new head football coach Eric Morris!

   TARRANT AREA FOOD BANK
Students in need of food can drive through a Tarrant Area Food Bank mobile food distribution center at UNT from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Dec. 20, in Lot 20. There are no zip code restrictions, and no ID or documents are required. You also can volunteer to help with the event that day from 9 to 11 a.m., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., or both — just sign up by Dec. 15. As many as 1,000 families are predicted to drive through the center, where volunteers will load their vehicles with food. If you aren’t attending or volunteering at the event, we recommend that you avoid the west side of campus during those hours to help reduce the amount of traffic in that area.

Any topics related to diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice are welcome, and presenters can include students, faculty, staff and people external to UNT. Registration for the conference also is now open. Please share the links with anyone you know who might be interested.
