Habitat Orlando & Osceola teamed up with Enterprise Mobility last week for a home dedication ceremony to celebrate Ambar's purchase of her brand new, affordable home. Before being approved to purchase a Habitat home, Ambar, who works as a housing counselor, said she worried that increasing rents and housing prices would keep her own goal of homeownership out of reach.
"I love knowing that my home is mine, that I’m not paying rent to a landlord, and that I am instead paying on a mortgage that will help to secure my future,” Ambar said.

Learn how to prepare from the experts at our upcoming virtual Habitat U Disaster Preparedness & Home Insurance class on Wednesday, May 14, at 6 p.m. It will be held virtually, so you can log in from the comfort of your home. The class is free and you do not need to be a Habitat homeowner to attend.
During the class, you'll learn how to file a claim with a home insurance agent, how to prepare for disasters with Orange County's Office of Emergency Management, and how you can benefit from a wind mitigation or 4-point inspection.

Marking the importance of fair housing in Osceola County |
To coincide with National Fair Housing Month, our President & CEO Catherine Steck McManus was honored to speak at two events in Osceola County last month.
First, she spoke at a fair housing walk hosted in partnership with Osceola County and the City of Kissimmee. Catherine was able to share our mission with attendees and walk them through how we’re working toward a vision where everyone has an affordable place to call home.
Then, Catherine spoke at a Kissimmee City Council meeting about the work Habitat Orlando & Osceola is doing in the city, and how local officials and community members can get involved. During the meeting, the city also honored Habitat Orlando & Osceola in a proclamation for National Community Development Week.

Last month we had a un-fore-gettable time celebrating our crew leaders at an appreciation event at Top Golf.
We had a great time recognizing our team of dedicated volunteers and getting a chance to mingle off the build site. Crew leaders are special volunteers who come out to the build site regularly to guide less-experienced volunteers.

After years of trying to purchase a home on the open market and being denied the first time she applied to purchase a home through Habitat Orlando & Osceola, Stephanie is over the moon to have closed on the purchase of her brand new, affordable Habitat home.
Stephanie, who works for a local school district and at a large retail store, said it’s important to her to set an example for son and granddaughter, to let them know if she can reach milestones like homeownership, someday they can too. “I work very hard, and if they’re seeing what I’m achieving, they’re going to know that if they do it, it can happen for them too,” she said.

With spring here, many are feeling inspired to give their homes a facelift with some spring
cleaning. While it’s not realistic for our homes to be spotless and showroom-ready 24/7, having
healthy cleaning habits is a great way to maintain your home and even increase its value.
The idea of revamping your home can be overwhelming, and finding a starting point is often
difficult. However, the process doesn't need to be exhausting—begin with something simple, like
decluttering. Clearing out items you no longer need is the perfect first step.
