Congratulations! We are so happy your student is joining our community of immersive learning and collaborative discovery.

To help address the expansive opportunities and inevitable stressors of your student’s first year with us, the Office of the Dean of Students seeks to promote a culture of resilience, self-care and flourishing that enables students to achieve their academic and interpersonal goals.

We hope your student will quickly become familiar with Vanderbilt’s Student Care Network—our holistic network of student health and wellness services and community resources bolstered by four primary offices, including the Office of Student Care Coordination, the University Counseling Center, the Student Health Center and the Center for Student Wellbeing.

Vanderbilt’s health and wellness infrastructure is intended to provide the care, guidance and support for your student to grow and thrive at the university and beyond.

Join our new Facebook group for parents and families

On July 20, the university launched the new Vanderbilt Parents & Families Group (Official) for all current Vanderbilt families. The new group replaces the individual class Facebook groups. The group will be supported by fellow Vanderbilt family members, with guidance from Vanderbilt’s Parents and Family Programs team, who can answer questions or offer direction on where to find any information you need. The new group will also allow parents and families to connect with and learn from others throughout their Vanderbilt journey. We are One Vanderbilt, and together we can build a stronger community.

Commodore Launch

Join fellow students, families and alumni as we welcome our newest Commodores and launch their Vanderbilt experience! Commodore Launch is a series of more than 45 events happening around the United States to officially welcome your student to the Vanderbilt community. You don’t want to miss out on this chance to connect with other families and alumni who live in your city.

Parties will be held throughout the summer across the country. More parties may be added, so be sure to check back frequently.

Registration open enrollment period (July 21–Sept. 7)

The registration system opens July 21 so that students can make adjustments to their schedules. The last day to add/drop a class is Sept. 7.

Preparing for move-in

Transfer student move-in will begin the evening of Aug. 20. The full Transfer Student Orientation schedule will be available in early August.

Family Weekend 2021

Family Weekend will be in person on campus this fall, Oct. 1-3. Plan to come early, as many activities will be planned for that Friday. We look forward to hosting our Vanderbilt families for a wonderful weekend.

For those who are unable to attend in person, there will be opportunities to engage virtually. Registration will open in August.
