Entrepreneur Apiwe Nxusani-Mawela is one of South Africa's first black female brewmasters who is brewing up a storm in the craft beer industry with her bold plan to create a South African style of beer.
Her brand is called Tolokazi craft beers and ciders. She is using a range of local ingredients like sorghum and South Africa hops to create these unique drinks. We were very pleased to learn that she is also using Rooibos in her products!
Many industry experts have said that she is changing the traditional approach to craft beer by incorporating a taste of Mzansi. A few have also said that they have never tasted Rooibos infused beer before and that it is set to be a success not just in the country, but also abroad.

| Your little one’s delicate skin needs a lot of pampering when it comes to body care products. More sensitive, porous, dryer and more vulnerable to infections than adult skin, your baby’s skin needs body creams and washes that are safe and kind to their soft skin.
A true South African favourite, Rooibos as a skincare ingredient for your baby is filled with antioxidants and repairs your little one’s skin as it soothes. Conditions such as eczema, allergies and dryness benefit from rooibos’ vitamin D and zinc ingredients that promote healthy skin.

| A recent article in the Brakpan Herald hailed Rooibos as one of the best treats to give to your little ones if they are picky eaters.
Although every child has their own preferences when it comes to taste, the article argues that Rooibos is so versatile that most children enjoy it. Seeing as Summer is upon South Africa, they suggested that parents use some of Laager’s Tea4Kidz Rooibos Tea Bags to create delicious ice lollies! Not only are these perfect in hot weather conditions, but they are also healthy and beneficial for your children.

| Freshpak recently shared a fantastic recipe on the popular breakfast show, Expresso. The recipe is easy to follow and, of course, incorporates Rooibos tea as an ingredient. The tea is perfect for those looking to naturally boost their immune system, but also for those looking to soothe muscle pains after exercising.
Ingredients:
- 6 Freshpak Rooibos Tea Bags
- 1l water
- 1 cup ginger, finely chopped / peeled / grated
- 1 cup sugar
- ¾ cup water
- 1 green chilli, split in half
- 2 cups lemonade / sparkling water
- Ice blocks, sliced ginger and mint to garnish
| |
| Method:
- Place the Freshpak tea bags into a pot, along with the cold water. Gently heat until almost boiling, then turn off heat and allow to cool completely. Set aside.
- Place the fresh ginger, sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat, and stir to dissolve sugar. Cover, and simmer for roughly 15-20 minutes.
- Remove from the heat, and in your chilli, and allow to stand / steep for a further 2 hours minimum. Strain and store in a clean, airtight vessel until use.
- To assemble, fill a glass with ice blocks, and fill halfway with cold Freshpak Rooibos Tea. Top up with lemonade or sparkling water, and then drizzle in your ginger syrup until desired strength is achieved. Garnish with sliced ginger and fresh mint.
