Unified Sports Holiday Classic Wrap-Up
Volleyball Bowling Basketball
Powerlifting
Hundreds of athletes participated in our annual Unified Sports Holiday Classic presented by the Connecticut Elks Association in person on Saturday, November 20th and virtually.

Competition on November 20th included a Basketball Skills Jamboree at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Powerlifting at SAWAH in Darien - a new venue - and Unified Sports Volleyball at the Hamden Hall Beckerman Athletic Center, Hamden. In addition, athletes and Unified partners from across the state participated in bowling virtually. They practiced throughout the sports season with their teams locally and submitted their high scores to us to receive awards for their achievements. Through our Healthy Athletes program, participants received nutrition education and healthy snacks.

Athletes and Unified partners were energized and excited to compete, play alongside their teammates and gather with athletes from other communities at a Special Olympics state competition. While Covid safety measures such as mask-wearing were strictly enforced to ensure everyone's well-being, it didn't diminish the camaraderie, sportsmanship and joy that happens at a Special Olympics event!

Winter Games to Feature Virtual and In-Person Competition
Our 2022 Winter Games will take place February 26th and 27th. In addition to the in-person events taking place that weekend, we will offer virtual dance lessons and an e-gaming tournament, with sessions beginning in January.

Our virtual dance competition will feature Contemporary and Hip Hop Dance. Athletes who participate will choose a dance style, "attend" five virtual practices between January 12th and February 10th and submit videos of themselves performing the 30-second dance routine they've learned.

Our e-gaming competition will be Unified, 2 on 2, with one athlete and one Unified partner per team. Athletes will play Rocket League and the tournament will "launch" on January 11th and run through March 1st. Those interested must register by January 3rd.
Athletes and Unified partners can find out more and sign up for dance or e-gaming here.
